Since VPNs are detected as VPNs, are they worthless as a means of defeating IP bans?

Not at all, there's services we can use to detect VPNs and some companies completely deny service in such cases, but in most cases we allow people to proceed regardless. But none of that overrules the fact that your IP is hidden.

I really can't understand what anybody needs to see so bad on the internet that they need a VPN for

When a media site such as #1ChatAvenue or GAG bans someone, they ban their IP address so they can't create another account using a different name. Therefore, people will use a VPN which has many different IP addresses. That is what I tried when I was banned four different times. The problem is VPN IP addresses are recognized as VPNs and the site will not allow you to create an account with a VPN.

That's exactly my point. If you get banned on here what's so important that you need to come back for?

We do what we want to do; not what is important to do.

Nope. It just means that VPN is not a very good VPN - but that is what you get from free VPNs!

Part of the reason your pay for a good VPN is that they will continually update their proxies and servers to evade bans.

That is false, You are just making up stuff. I tried two different paid services, and in one I tried 4 different cities, In every case, they were recognised as VPNs

Depends. Unless the platform doesn’t allow VPNs to connect, it wouldn’t be a problem because the VPN would still cloak the specific banned IP address. I think. Not an expert in this area.

That will not work. VPNs can mask the IP address, but they cannot hide the fact that they are VPNs. Sites that ban IP addresses will not allow VPNs.

Then that’s a problem. I’ve never been banned from a platform, so I didn’t know that.

I have; 4 times. Two years ago VPN from two different companies and numerous cities and countries was always detected as VPN so logging on or new registration was denied. Again this year with the same results. With my old internet provider, if I turned my modem off for a few hours, I got and new IP address. However, with my current internet provider, that did not work. Instead, I had to take my old modem in and exchange it for another modem which changed my IP address. After that, I was able to register using a different name.
