What is better visit just one or two countries but many cities in those or more countries but less cities?

In this case Im talking about Europe, Asia or Africa where there are so many countries and vcities to visit taht only if you are a mega mega billionaire you can visit all of the continents very often in weeks and can visit as many cities and countries as you want but if you are not a mega trillionaire you can't do that

example you visit Europe and wish to visit many countries and many cities in each country if possible but that could be not possible as for that you require money so you a) visit many countries but just few cities in each country or B) Visit just 2 countries but spend more time visiting many different cities in only those 2 countrie but remembering that either one you choose you perhaps won't be able to visit Europe again anytime soon so you have to take advantange of your visit there to either visit many countries or just many cities but only 1 or 2 countries and other countries you dont know but had wished to visit them eventually you will visit them who knows when and who knows if you will have the money to visit other countries you could not visit before.

An acquaintance of mine is in Switzerland at this moment with her husband and I asked her how long she be there before going to another country and she told me "I wotn be going to other European countries only Switzerland as we want to know as much of the country as we can so I be here for 3 weeks and then we go home but also Switzerland is very expensive and we had saved money as much as we could for this trip only and the gondola mountain rides are quite expensive here in Switzerland".

The Germanic way of going on vacation is to just pick a single location.
One country and probably just one city, then immerse yourself in the place.

And US vacations where you keep moving to the next experience all the time just sounds like more work then vacation...

But what abotu Europe if the vacations are in Europe and Europe has many countrie just like Asia and Africa.

I'm talking about Europe here.
Nordic people and people from the German speaking countries usually don't travel to multiple places in one vacation.
It not that we *never* do, but the norm is to pick a place, go there, stay there then return afterwards.
Even if it's not all that eventful.
Vacations are usually about relaxing and emersion into the local culture for us.

One possible reason for that is that we tend to have lots of small vacations instead of saving up vacation days for ages and ages to get one big one like an American would.
So one short vacation might be to one village in one country, then the next to a totally different country etc...

I'm also talking about tourists from other countries.
So going from Germany or Norway to say Spain or Egypt we wouldn't travel all over the place, but we'd most likely stay in one location for most or all of the stay.
Maybe at most go to two locations.

For us going to a different country is a normal vacation, not a once in a lifetime experience.

Remember that going to another country is a lot easier for us then for your average American.
And doing so 3 times in one year isn't unheard of at all.
Although long distance is perhaps a yearly occurrence.
Going to China or the US isn't something you do multiple times a year as a European.
While crossing to a neighbouring country with a different language, culture and history is as easy as it is for you to visit a neighbouring state in the US.

Visiting northern Africa or the middle east is kind of like you visiting Mexico or Canada.
You drive most of the distance, then perhaps you'll take a ferry, or you might take a train.
You can take a train from Norway all the way to the Turkish border with Iraq.
Crossing *into* Iraq or Syria is a nightmare, but there's a lot of countries around the Mediterranean sea that we have fairly good access to.
Lebanon used to be a tourist destination before all the chaos there.
Egypt still is.
Morocco occasionally is.
Libya is to chaotic right now.

But yeah, you get the picture.

The first one. Though what I usually do is, I base myself in ONE country for two weeks and visit many places in that country, but then also day trip to neighboring countries for a day or two. There are some countries that are only worth visiting for a day.

I would probably pick one country and experience as much as I can. I don't think I would get much of a culture experience if I'm going to more then one country but less then one or two cities.

Going to many cities, towns and villages in one country is very enjoyable. A few years ago, my SO and I had a 10-day tour of Scotland, making an anti-clockwise route from Edinburgh to Inverness to Oban and back to Edinburgh.

i think it's better to go to one place and get a more immersive experience rather than spending a day or two in a number of places.

I believe one country many cities. That way you get a feel for the whole country not just a snap shot.
