If you were a solo traveler and you just really miss the beaches, where would you go: Vietnam, Thailand or Malaysia?

I've been to all three of those countries, and there are different reasons to go to Vietnam than to Thailand. Best beaches of the three that I saw (limited sample size) were in Thailand, but I thought Vietnam was the most interesting of the three overall.

Vietnam. I didn't like the vibe that parts of Thai society gave me (as an assumed part of an equally "bad-vibe tourist type" ), also Vietnam is a bit less touristy.

I've spent about 8 months in Thailand, and 2 months in Vietnam. While there were less tourists in Vietnam, I found the level of "tourist harassment" (constantly walking up to tourists to sell them unwanted items) in Vietnam to be off-putting. Like literally one woman with a tray of cigarettes, lighters, gum, &c. waiting for me to tell the first woman with a tray of the exact same stuff that I don't want any of it. Then she approaches me and asks if I want any of her cigarettes, lighters, gum, &c. This happened to me daily walking the same 4 blocks from my hotel to the dive center, by the same 3-5 women selling the same thing. Every day I tell each and every one of them that I don't smoke and am not interested. everyday they ask me again in succession, for weeks.

I had the same thing happening to me in Thailand… only it were fortune tellers, suit sellers and sex-show pimps. Annoying to no end. 🤬🤬🤬

@zeitgeist057 I am not suggesting but judging on how sex business flourishes there, it’s natural to guess that quite a few men who travel there, become the part of it, even if their sole purpose of traveling wasn’t sex tourism.

I've been to Thailand and Vietnam. The beaches I went to in Vietnam were not impressive, but I went in the north of the country and I would expect the ones in the south to be better. The beaches in Thailand were beautiful, but I think the more popular ones get pretty crowded in peak season.

Have not been to Malaysia.

I don't know them well enough. I have a friend from Malaysia so I would ask her. But if I didn't choose that I would probably pick Vietnam. I think they have some really beautiful beaches.
