I have not been there yet, but is on my bucket list.
I do know it is a Dutch colony, and it has the Cape Of Good Hope. They have good wine there too from the sounds of it.

Oh God! It's on my bucketlist as well, but the ANC and black nationalism has completely destroyed that country! I'm not against ending segregation, but the blacks should NEVER have been allowed to take control of the government. It would easily be the only first world nation in Africa, if the Whites had stayed in power. So much potential down the toilet. I heard Cape Town is getting worse everyday. If you do visit, stay in Simon's Town or on the Garden Route, as they're still relatively safe.
I don't know how it's possible that the cities with the most Whites have the most crime.
But White farmers are being killed and having their land siezed, and they have problems with food, water and electricity, because the only thing the blacks know how to farm is drugs, and they're too lazy and inexperienced to manage the fields. And the ANC imposed a quota on how many White people a company is allowed to have, so engineering jobs have been filled with incompetent blacks who know nothing about engineering, instead of Whites who are actually qualified for those positions
Even the Western Cape, which is the only province where the White party is still in power, is unable to escape the policies of the ANC.
That country is going to hell and a handbasket, and Mandela's party is turning that country into a third world shithole!
You know that 1 in 2 White women in the country has been raped by a black man at some point, and pretty much every White person in the country has been victim of some sort of crime purported by blacks.
Not much.
I have some wonderful students from there.
I like one of them especially, she’s 30, her name is Muriel, which means sparkling shiny sea and truly depicts her personality.
She’s kind, bright, strong-minded and compassionate young woman. She has a huge resource to become very successful at what she’s doing.
My impression on South Africa is very positive thanks to my students.
Positive? Really? What are they saying?
@KostasKouvalis The students of mine are very good. So I like South African people because of them.
I don’t mean politics of South Africa. People are nice though.
Are they White?
@KostasKouvalis Two are white, rest are black. Why?
Just curious
I know they have 12 official languages.

It where the first heart transplant was done by Dr Christian Barnard.
From the early twentieth century until Mr. Nelson Mandela's election as first first black and truly democratically elected leader in 1994, South Africa was a rogue apartheid state where about 10% of the population (whites) viciously denied the other 90% (Indigenous Black Africans, mixed-race folk ["Coloureds" in Afrikaaner vernacular], Asians and others) the franchise and, as in the formerly-segregated Southern U. S., decent schools, public facilities, employment, housing and even choice of residence, as dark-skinned South Africans were banned from white-designated parts of the country. First a (failed because of South Africa's military might, largely U. S. and British-backed because South Africa had been a British colony, then a member of the British Commonwealth as is Canada today, until South Africa's apartheid policy got it expelled from the Commonwealth in 1961]) guerrilla campaign by Mr. Mandela's African National Congress (Mr. Mandela was arrested, tried and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1963 for his armed campaign against the government;he was freed in 1990) , then world-wide sanctions threating to sink South Africa's economy, resulting in a slow unravelling of apartheid in the 1980's until it was ended in the early 1990's by the P. W. Botha regime, which handed over power in the country's first true election wher EVERY adult regardless of ethnicity was permitted the vote, resulting in Mr. Mandela's historic victory.
What a load of shit. You're straight up retarded if you genuinely believe the country is run better by the ANC.
The countries who imposed those sanctions should be ashamed of themselves for not backing their own race. They should know from history that blacks have no leadership skills.
I'm not against abolishing segregation, but blacks should have NEVER been allowed to run for office.
Only visited Jo’berg airport in transit, which seemed very nice. Have friends originally from there, or who’ve been. Everyone has loved it. Strong economy that has driven investment across the region. Politics is still dominated by black v white. Kruger National Park is famous for safaris. Cape Town is artsy, beautiful and of course, wineries. Some cities are very dangerous. The island where the Air Jaws documentaries (Shark Week) is off the coast (seeing Great Whites is on my bucket list.)
I think crime is blown out of proportion
It really isn't
I’m learning a lot right now. I’m currently reading a book about the history of the Zulu people and it’s fascinating.
I don't think it's been a Dutch colony since the 1800's.
I know that
From all the info others said. I think I don't know the country.
They have good cricket team. And Gandhi lived in South Africa before starting his struggle for freedom in India.
ON my bucket list too.
Wildlife and social unrest
