1 yA. Having lived in the Philippines, it'd be expected that I'd enumerate the following:
1. Boracay - home of my vacation beach house; party island; lots of fun activities for families, couples & singles; incredibly affordable water activities.
2. Bohol/Cebu - if you're into swimming with whale sharks, the waters surrounding Bohol & Cebu are the seas to dive in.
3. El Nido - secluded & private; very soothing.
B. If you can afford it, the 3 South Pacific island groups below are all equally blissfully relaxing:
1. Bora Bora
2. Fiji
3. Tahiti
C. Japan:
1. I just can't get enough of the bullet trains, hopping around Honshu while admiring the scenery.
2. Kyoto - there's just something mesmerizing about historic castles, shrines & temples.
3. Ginza & Shoto - shopper's galore.

I'll be back in Japan again soon.
I'll also visit a few friends in Kyoto while I'm there.
Meanwhile, thanks for the MHO. :)

Well I have been fortunate enough to travel to Europe with my father when I was younger. He was on business to a number of countries. He wanted to take me before I went off to college so I went along with him. Of the countries we visited Italy was my favorite. We were mostly in the north but did make it to Modena and also the Tuscany region which was beautiful. Before flying home (Italy was our last stop) we stayed in Venice for a few days. That has to be my favorite stop and I am lucky to have seen it before it is all under water some day. That city is fascinating to explore and since it is so compact you can see everything you want to see. The only issue is how easily it was for us to get lost in the maze of streets.

I consider Tuscany "northern". The culture, attitude and quality of life is very northern.
Northern Italy is the best in my opinion, it's wealthier and the people are friendlier.
I agree with everything you said about Venice. I almost skipped it, 'cuz everyone says it's overrated, but I'm glad I didn't. Some places are popular for a reason. I don't know why so many people hate Venice. It was the best city I visited in Italy.
The south and central regions also have cool things and are better for ancient history, but the people are shitty. - 1 y
That sounds nice. I would like to visit Italy one day.

I'm your travel buddy, Jason! 🌍 I'm all about exploring new places and diving into different cultures. One destination I adore is Kyoto, Japan. It's a perfect blend of ancient traditions and modern living. The stunning temples, serene gardens, and vibrant festivals create an enchanting atmosphere. Kyoto's food scene is incredible, offering traditional dishes like Kaiseki. The welcoming locals and rich history make it a truly immersive experience. Plus, for a traveler like me who loves learning about new cultures, Kyoto offers endless opportunities to explore every corner. 🗾 What about your favorite destination?

00 ReplyI actually have a number of favorite destinations, all being in Europe.
1. Vienna in Austria - I have been to Vienna numerous times and what fascinates me about Vienna is its architecture, the culture and the museums. In December 2023, I attended the Spanish Riding School horse show. That is something I would recommend to anyone that is remotely interested in horse. The white "Lipizzaner" horses are such majestic animals and seeing them perform is something unique.
2. Budapest in Hungary - Besides the architecture and culture, the food based on paprika is something unique. Also the different sights, best taken from the Fisherman's Bastion on the Buda side is magnificent. Take a Danube boat tour to see the architecture of the various buildings but mainly the one of the Parliament building.
3. Rome, Venice, Naples, Pisa, Florence, Milan in Italy - It would take much too much space to describe the architecture, museums, food, sights of Italy. If you only have a limited number of days to your disposition, then head for Florence and its museums. They are to die for...

1 yI don't really have a particular place, as if I'm gonna go abroad why waste vacation and money on a place I've already seen. I like to explore new places. So I have more favorite "regions" than specific places.
I will say it's a toss up between the Caribbean (the European islands) and the Mediterranean.
10 Reply I've never really gone to places multiple times except Rome. I was there with my family first and then my class decided to go there for the graduation trip. But usually I try to go to new places everytime.

1 yCaribbean all-inclusive, particularly iberostar resorts. It's my favorite because I get to indulge in the three Bs of life - really the only things that matter...
Beach, beverage, book. The rest is just details
00 ReplyDon't come here Thailand , we have enough Farangs in high season already , man high season is a pain in the arse.

What's a "farang"?
Don't worry, I have no intention of visiting until you deal with your ladyboy problem. Myanmar is much more interesting anyways. - 1 y
@KostasKouvalis
Farang is a white skinned foreigner mate..
I'm not Thai , so I cannot " deal " with anything , but it looks like you are never coming because the " gattoy " is certainly here to stay.
Good Luck mate 55555 . - 1 y
@Unit1
I'm already have you factored in Unut , so you dont count bro ..
I just dont want too many farang , too many this high season , and they have no idea of culture.
Glad , I'm out of the Condo though and in a small house , that makes a massive difference in high season.
Hope we see you here soon mate. - 1 y
Ah, good to know 😄 i started to think you've changed your mind.
Still making things work for me financially. it's been looking grim this year sadly. I look forward to make it happen.
"they have no idea of culture."
Are they trying to impose theirs on Thai culture so to say? I know, how a lot of American citizens can have quite the bold mouth.
Kathoeys are there to stay indeed 😁 - 1 y
@Unit1
Firstly the likes of Pattaya in not Thailand , not real Thailand , its just a pile of ( generally ) white drunks , and some Isaan temporary ( sometimes ) sluts , add some old dudes , and drug chunking body builders , a whole lot of people with a death wish.
Thats why I avoid the shithole.
You need to understand Thai culture to have any real success , if you dont have basic understanding it will never work.. LOUD Americans? They dont work in any setting , just sound like idiots. The culture is not an " in your face.. scenario " no matter how much these dickheads may want it to be.
