The Arctodus simus, or short-faced bear, was arguably the most terrifying predator of the Ice Age due to its combination of colossal size, speed, and brute strength.

Standing up to 4 meters tall when standing on its hind legs and weighing in excess of 900 kg, it towered over almost any other carnivore of its time.

Its body structure, with long, powerful legs, allowed it to move at great speeds, possibly reaching up to 50 km/h , making it a formidable hunter.

Furthermore, its jaw had an incredibly powerful bite force, capable of crushing bones with ease.

Unlike other large megafauna carnivores, its size and aggressiveness would have allowed it to intimidate even the most fearsome predators, ensuring its dominance in Pleistocene ecosystems.

Not sure but why does everyone want to bring back boring mammoths and never sabre toothed tigers?

Because we've found many mammoth carcasses frozen in permafrost that we could get high quality DNA from but it was only in the last year that we've found a mummified sabre-toothed cat.
