Is it worth using up an entire day just to see some ruins and a beach?

I only have 6 full days on Guadeloupe, because that's all I could afford, and my schedule is already pretty packed and some of the sites I wanted to visit are only open on certain days. I wanted to visit Marie Galante, but looking at it more, it doesn't seem as interesting as I thought. The ruins of the sugar plantation look interesting, but there's some places on the main island I want to see more and because of bus and museum schedules, it would be extremely hectic and I feel I wouldn't have any down time. But if I skipped Marie Galante, I could easily see all the things I want to see on the main island and still have some down time. I also always like to give myself some extra time for "unforeseen circumstances".

When I travel, I'm always trying to see as much as possible, and if I have "down-time", I feel I'm wasting precious time that could be used for sight-seeing. But at the same time, I sometimes end up getting home and feeling I need another vacation because I didn't relax at all.

Also, the ferry ticket to Marie Galante is a bit expensive. It's cheaper on a different day, but as I already have 2 back to back day trips planned, I really don't want to do three in a row.

So what do you think? Should I do the day trip to Marie Galante then either end up not seeing everything on the main island or seeing everything but not having any down time?

Or, should I skip Marie Galante and see everything I want to see on the main island at a slower pace?
