I've been outside of the United States for at least 1/3rd of my life. I'm actually a little over 40 so, you do the math part. I have no desire, at fucking all to travel. In fact, my dream is to move to the middle of nowhere and never deal with people or places again in my life.
But I do recognize that people that haven't seen much in their life, wants to get out there and see it. If you've seen it in one place you've seen it everywhere else too... they don't have that wisdom yet though. There be magical shit out there for those people and you can't tell them they're wrong. Seriously, I may have been there and done that and can speak that way and feel that way... but a cat locked in the house his entire life might want to run out the front door and just experience what is out there out of sheer boredom because their life sucks locked inside with some old woman that just watches CNN all day... even if she does offer petting whenever you jump on her lap. A horny cat even more so if you think about it.

Not that often. I've only been out of the USA 3 times.
Most Europeans marvel at this... until they visit the USA. They can take a 3 hour train ride and be in another country.
The USA is the size of a continent. I actually leave the USA you have to go a long ways and it is more expensive.
To travel from Madrid Spain to Bucharest Romania is 1,538 miles. In the US if you are in NY city that won't even get you to Denver, Colorado which is 1,629 miles. Someone in France (Pairs) could take a vacation to Barcelona and that is 643 miles. If you are in Atlanta, Georgia that won't even get you to Chicago, Illinois.
So the distances are vast and a lot of Americans travel state to state. I've still never been to Oregon or Maine or Alaska or Washington or Hawaii or Vermont.
Europeans do have the advantage of high speed train and having so many new countries just hours away. Where I live in the USA it would take 1,900 miles to reach Mexico and 591 to the Canadian border. It is 4,000 miles to London and 2.500 to Venezuela.
I have been to England, Canada and Jamaica. A lot of Americans do travel a lot but it costs a lot of money and traveling state to state is done more. It is roughly 2,500 miles from east coast to west coast. Madrid Spain to Moscow Russia is only 2,140 miles

If I can afford it, I like to do an annual big (usually international) trip. Right now mum and I are planning a girl's trip to Egypt, but that won't happen for a couple years. Last year I went to Japan, which was amazing! This year Im traveling locally, and probably the same for next year.

I've been to Mexico. I went to Tijuana, Encenada and Rosarita Beach quite a few times in the 1970s with friends.
My wife and I spent 5 days at Xcaret on the Maya Riviera near Cancun. While there, we spent a day visiting Tulum. And, another time, we spent two weeks in San Miguel Allende and Guanajuato.
We spent two weeks in the Irish Republic.
In 1984 I spent a month visiting France, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, England, Wales and Ireland with my parents. It was mostly to visit places my dad had been through during WWII when he fought all the way from Utah Beach to the surrender of Germany.20 ReplyLast international travel for me was 2020. Screwed around by Uber in the UK made us miss our flight. Then Gatwick "assistance" made us miss the replacement by not taking me in my wheelchair to the gate in time.

International travel used to be constant for me. I've also lived outside the US as an expatriate. These days it's less frequent but I've spent 10 weeks outside the US since last November, 6 weeks, then 2 weeks, then 2 weeks. I've been doing my entire life since I was a kid. It gets old, tedious, tiring.
00 Reply Over Easter I went back to my home country to see my family as my mother had had an accident. Before that I was there over Christmas and before that last summer I visited 7 countries in 21 days on a motorcycle trip around the Baltic Sea

It's been a while omg. With covid and everything else going on I'm not even sure if it's wise to do at the moment. Most people seem to dislike Americans right now. But I mean hey a girlfriend of mine just went to Morrocco and had no problems

10 Reply Not very often unless I count in the fact that I live in the Netherlands next to the Belgium border and visit Belgium frequently to go swimming overthere because they have places with much cleaner water to swim in.
10 Reply476 opinions shared on Travel topic. The last time I left the United States was probably in 2008 when I was visiting Toronto Canada. It's hard to believe it's been that long, but, in 2011, we moved to Missouri from upstate NY where it was easier to visit Canada.
00 ReplyUp until about 8 years ago, I was out of the U. S. most of the time, in both West and East Europe and the Middle East. Now, safely at home in Florida.
