Did Venice stink when you guys visited?

Everyone says it stinks, and apparantly I'm the only person who didn't smell this nausiating stench, only very briefly when pulling in by train.

I was there in October

I went there once and when I was riding the gondola the waters smelled like rotten algae and I did noticed the disgusting color staining the sides of the buildings too. That too can be the reason for that stench. Yuck! 🤢 overall I love Venice because of the good food, fresh fruits and vibes. Warning: you can get lost easily.

Depending on the water level and exchange, at some canals you can smell rotting algae. But overall I didn’t notice anything bad. 🤷‍♂️
