"And at what point do the rest of us say … 'this isn't okay for a 13 yr old to be posing in a bikini whilst her MOTHER takes the photo?'" she added, citing an incorrect age for Piper. The singer appeared to be referring to a series of bikini photos Piper shared on Instagram, where she has 4.8 million followers, on August 14. The account's bio says the page is "managed by Family." Piper's YouTube content includes videos like letting Instagram followers control what she does for 24 hours. The Los Angeles social-media star also makes pop music and has more than 220,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Piper told Today Parents that she didn't think Pink had "ever seen one" of her videos. "Pictures of teenagers in bikinis having fun are not sexual," she said. "They're only sexual if you view us that way."

My opinion is that the teen should be allowed to wear whatever she wants without hate or it being sexualised

If anyone sees or uses those pics for their sexual pleasure, they are not only pedophiles but are sick and should be skinned alive

As for pink, i dont follow her, don't know her music and don't know her beliefs but from reading the comments throughout the answers to this question, it sounds like she has done as bad if not worse...

However, the media constantly put a spin on things to do with celebraties to create scandle and sell news, just look at Britney Spears (different story, similar situation)...

So in conclusion, in my opinion, it's the pedos on the Internet that make this a problem, if there were no pedos, pink wouldent have to say anything about it, nor would that young teen have to worry about sexual predators...

My only judgement is with the parents of the teen, they're bound to know what kinda people are out there and shouldent have put those pics on the Internet for everyone to see (could be kept to friends only for instance)

Teens can wear what they want. They know the social construct of how clothes appear sexual or not and it's there choice to how they want to been so or not.

If a parent forced them to wear stuff that's wrong. But taking piper's words as the truth this not the case. She wore a bikini because she wanted to, nothing wrong with that.

The overall statement Bikinis are not sexual is wrong tho so she may need to actually to be more educated on the social construct of how clothes appear sexual or not.
Since bikinis often very easily become sexual once worn by a pretty female after puberty.
For example if i was 14 and saw a 14 girl who is attractive in a Bikini, yeah that's in my mind a sexual outfit cause it's sexy. And that means this would for sure fall into the Construct of what clothes are sexual since if it was just a hoodie or something i probably wouldn't look at it and say what your wearing is sexy and other guys would follow these thoughts.

Sighs there was much easier way to explain this. Basically you wear something, you know what a guy will think about it and no doubt you have took that into consideration or even as the reason why your wearing it. Can't just go no i didn't when you get them exact responses. Unless you just wear stuff without thinking how it looks to other's?

I side with Pink because she understands that phase well and understands what fame can do to you. She has huge background on this stuff most people don't.

I still think a lot of outfits are inappropriate in general and should be left in the bed for some sexy time or when you want to leave more imagination at a private personal beach rental and you get my point.

Overall she's 14 I'm never gonna agree to that, I still think women in general are huge contributors to this issue when their is so much more we can do to be sexy but still classy instead of yelling fuck me with our clothes.

Of course thief is men but with men it's more their support that is a problem then their opinion, though I still find it so weird that men prefer a girl who is not so sexual in public but still sexualizes women. It's confusing.

Once people acknowledge this distraction make cuter clothes instead of over the top sexual and start loving themselves and being more aware of our male counterparts. We will have more legitimate concerns to approach then having to worry about immature parents and rebellious kids.

I agree that there is nothing wrong or sexual about a 14 year old wearing a bikini, however uploading the pictures onto a public social media account with 4 million people showing a 14 year old girl in a bikini from behind, showing her feet, and biting her lip. It's not hard to see that she's being exploited. Most of her pictures are fine, innocent having fun posing for the camera then there's some questionable upwards angles while she is butt to the camera in a short skirt. If she wants to take these photos that's fine but if her account is managed by her family they shouldn't be allowing these on her public account.

It is true that beaches & swimming pools are filled with people of all ages wearing all kinds of swim suits made out of same fabric. It is also normal for parents to post on their Social Media, pictures of their kids in swimsuits. Usually parent accounts have only those they know in their friend list, which filters out random strangers.

But becoming a celebrity atracts all kinds of attention. This girl's message of defence is true, its not sexual unless you see it that way. Those who do see her 14 year old body that way, are few people of all ages above 10. Out of those few that are over 16, thats when it starts getting more frustrating. Celebrities are always targets of all kinds of people with harmful intentions.

This question reminds me of another question, should swimsuit and underware companies with their ally companies allow models of all ages appear in their catalogs, websites and brouchers?
Weather those pictures of under age girls and boys are posted by the companies or indeviduals in public social media, they still end up in the eyes of all who search for it.

By that same logic, nudity isn't necessarily sexual, so why not let 14 year old kids walk around naked? Please don't ban me for saying that by the way, I don't want it to happen but it's certainly the direction we are moving in as a society.

The problem here is that they are edging the line between exploiting for pedophiles and youtubing for normal people. Sure, she isn't actually naked, but they are pushing the boundary further and further in order to get these creeps to watch, because extra views is extra money and popularity, doesn't matter who the views come from. What's next? A 14 year old wearing pasties (aka nipple cover stickers) and saying it's not sexual? How far does it go before it crosses the line and becomes sexual?

Not that Pink is totally justified for coming after someone like that but as far "it's only sexual if you view it that way" this is a cheap trick to shift the responsibility and make it look like other people have a problem just because their eyes work.

When you do something sexual it's sexual regardless of how much you tell yourself or others tell you it's not.

It's not the bikini pic that is the sexual thing, it's the fact that both her and her parents knew for a fact that this pic will get horny internet teenagers clicking on her and that will make them money, they let it happen knowingly and still she comes out and pretend like her content would be worth more than 7 likes had she been an overweight middle aged dude. Plus one could easily argue that Pinks shows were highly sexual , and Id bet she has made a lot more money than this young girl. I think its just the same as its always been , if her mother didn't roll the camera a friend would have.. So what?

14 seems a bit young to post bikini pictures. I remember when I was 13, this girl on instagram posted a mirror picture of herself with a bunch of bras in the background, I thought it was really weird. But, if the person posting bikini pics at 14 is okay with it, and likes it, then I guess it's okay? As long as their parents are okay too, because there are some really weird people on the internet that could do some sketchy stuff with bikini pics, especially if it's a teen. Also, parents posting a picture of their child in a bikini sounds really really weird though, I definitely wouldn't do that if I was a parent, I wouldn't let my parents do that even if they offered.

I don't see anything wrong with it to be honest it's literally just her doing what teens do in a pool, splashing around and having fun.

When I go to the pool I see women of all ages in a bikini younger and older and don't really think much of it.

I think it's just stupid drama and BS to be honest and think that this probably would have happened even if she was wearing a one piece or was fully clothed, someone would have still made a big deal out of it as people on the internet with to much time on their hands do.

I don’t know if the parents are trying to exploit their daughter. I don’t think that is what is going on.

But

I can see Pink’s point of view.

I can see both sides’ views. I’m more in the middle, but if I were the father, I don’t know if I would like to post pictures of my very young daughter in a bikini. It just doesn’t sit well with me.

But again, it’s summer and they’re outside in the pool/water. So, maybe that’s an exception?

I haven’t seen the photos or social media account of Piper, so I don’t know.

These people like Pink, whoever she is, should not ctiticise other people's life style. Since I was about 7 years old, my family has lived 50 metres from a beach. I spent as much time as I could manage, in a bikini, on the beach. I still do.

It is the same for loads of other girls of all ages. Every day in the summer.

I should add that on certain beaches, I have always worn nothing but a smile!

I don't like taking sides but I'm a bit concerned about the long-term effects of mental health of underaged people with millions of followers receiving their attention based on images like this regardless of the innocence of their intentions. I think a parent who has any doubts about the mental health consequences should err on the side of greater discretion when it comes to what their children can and can't express in places where the entire world can see.

Her doing the ahegao face at 14 on some of the pictures is a bit disturbing, but whatever i'm sure most kids her age are doing it too, it's nothing too serious in my opinion.

She is not posing half naked in any of the pictures, or doing any overly sexual poses.

I always wore two pieces as a child and started wearing bikinis when I was 13. Literally every one did. It wasn't seen as sexual it was just swimwear. It's hot and she's going to be in the water, wtf does she want her to wear?

Piper is right on this one. She's having fun and living it up. Like she said, it's the summer and she wears bikinis in the pool. So what? Why are people trying to make her bikini sexual? She's a beautiful girl and looks great in her choice of swimsuit. We can even take it farther than that. What if she wants to skinny dip in the pool? She should be able to. It's not sexual. It would just be her natural self enjoying the water.
