What do you think of the 18yo who pranked that there were explosives on his flight?

An 18yo boy on his way from UK to Minorca (Spain Balearic islands) for vacation with his friends decided to pull what he called a prank while waiting on his delayed flight by posting on social media that the plane may have explosives onboard. The authorities didn't think it funny. The plane was escorted by Spanish air force jets and the boy was arrested in Spain, had to post Euro10 thousand bond, and has to remain in Spain until his trial in Spain and may possibly also be tried in the UK. He may also have to reimburse the airline for all the expenses it incurred, including paying for the air force escort and delays to other airlines.

This was obviously NO JOKE!

It goes on a fair bit tbh.

Some one tries to be funny and gets arrested, most are in security area and getting bags checked, use the bomb word.

Same with social media posts, it is monitored and reported on.

QRA (Quick ReactionAlert) jets do launch a lot for Russians and for Civilian aircraft.

It happens more than the news picks up on tbh.

In this case, he will be facing costs for everything and pay a % then potentially Spanish jail time, he will get on good terms with Big Ronaldo from Cell 9.

Wouldn't be surprised if they push for jail time to make an example of him. I know 18 year old boys do dumb shit but this goes to far and there's been enough previous cases for him to know airlines don't take it lightly.
