I'm friends with a woman I dated briefly in high school. We were never serious though. One of those things where you're attracted to each other, get along, but intimacy felt wrong, almost like kissing a family member. We stayed very good friends and I even went to her wedding. She has a standing invite to mine when I propose to my girlfriend.

My sister lived with her boyfriends ex wife for years. Granted, my sister was beginning to hate him as much as his ex wife did, so that sort of helped them build a friendship lmao, but their initial friendship started when the ex wives son would tell her how great she was and how she stood up for him when his dad was being a psycho. They always had open communication about her son and my sister never wanted to step on her toes, as the ex was the child's true mother. After they broke up my sister and her ex's ex-wife loved together for a couple years so she could be near her son while looking for a new apartment. They're still best friends xD
