Trending & News I think it's time that it should get its rightful name.

This is just a distraction and very “Trumpish”. More comical then anything. Everyone knows that will never happen.
But this is one of the Trump’s personality quirks that’s problematic. Don’t get me wrong I’m very glad he got re-elected.
But when he goes off on these distractions then it take away focus on much more serious issues like China controlling the Panama Canal.
What you are missing is that his "Distractions" are ALWAYS strategic, including this one.
He is a master of negotiation, he literally wrote the book on it. And this is part of one of the most important ones.
@RingOfFire alright I see your point. Also remember I proudly voted for him 3 elections in a row.
But I remember during his first term he made so unnecessary stupid tweets and comments that left me face palming. They sure as hell doesn’t mean I am a leftist.
But still I hate it when he says something outrageous because that gives fuel to the democrats to go off on him.
I am not accusing you of not supporting him. But I think you are missing some important perspectives.
The Gulf renaming is clearly part of his negotiation tactics not only with Mexico (which are already paying off and he isn't even in office yet) but also with China, Iran, Russia, North Korea, you name it (which is also already paying off). I understand this tactic well because I have used it successfully myself.
It's similar to the "crazy like a fox" tactic.
And yes, his enemies will always try to capitalize on it with their propaganda. But what's the alternative? Business as usual like the rest of the Republicans? If you don't use new tactics and try new and bold things, you don't get results. No, everything will not be successful. But as President Trump has already proven over and over again. HIS STRATEGIES WIN!
You should not want him to change a winner into a loser just because his enemies want to intimidate him into doing so. The way to deal with the Democrats "going off on him" is to double down on your strategy because that is the evidence it is effective.
Of course I want him to win. But remember all the stupid shit he used to tweet (twitter actually HELPED Trump by deleting his account but they are too stupid to realize that)? I just frustrated when he blurts out the first thought that crosses his mind. Like it’s entertainment and performics. Some of that is great but too much drives me nuts.
Although he has gotten better about this in the last year.
Nothing succeeds like success. And he has beaten them all. Imagine the shape this country would be in if he lost the election.
I agree 100%. But again notice that he’s been (overall) more disciplined as of late. Trump 2.0 is unstoppable. But I just cringe when he occasionally (very unnecessarily) shoot’s himself in the foot.
Who is paying for that name change and everything it would affect. Let me guess...Mexico again?!?
This dude is starting up again with more BS and he's not even back in the door. How about something that actually matters like health care? Is he talking about that so we don’t f*cking die because we can’t pay a grand for 30 pills, but sure tweet about the gulf. "This is what really matters to American families."
This soon to be president is insane. 😆
nobody, its a name change. You pay for it when you buy a new map.
Can call it whatever you want to call it. Doesn't change what other countries will call it. Frankly it's a giant waste of money.
It is a rather simple change via a division of the U. S. goverment for which American made maps will be made to reflect.
On top of that Trump won all the Gulf coast states by large margins including their coastal subdivisions. So even without the U. S. government's standards division simply from a cultural point of view Trump could make this happen if his supporters agree.
The English speaking people who actually live and work along the gulf will use that name.
That leaves just Mexicans and Cubans with a minority of the Gulf coastline all speaking Spanish. It doesn't really matter what they call it as they don't use the same maps.
@monorprise exactly. It doesn't matter, just like wanting to reverse the name change of the mountain in Alaska, it's just a collosal waste of time and money that could be put to better use. Not to mention there's seemingly racist motivation behind the want for these changes.
@Razp_Sorbet It does matter, a name imply a kind of ownership when it matches an existing party which simply isn't true of most of the gulf.
As for protecting your own racist thoughts on other people. I think you need to look in the mirror. This is property, it doesn't have a race just a lot of water, fish, and oil.
@monorprise changing the name does not change ownership. It will still be controlled by the USA, mexico and Cuba as it currently is.
Trump just has some weird agenda against anyone who isn't white a American. Wants to change the name of the gulf because he hates Mexicans. Wants to revert the name change of Mt Denali back to Mt McKinley even though Denali holds much more significant meaning to Inuit than the 25th US president.
@Jowm01 even if it was $5 it's a waste of money. Changing the name does literally nothing of impact.
Mr McKinley is indeed a good example @Razp_Sorbet since it has been renamed the favored group have gotten a lot more assertive of of ownership rights to the land.
When you rename a place you take broad claim to it for your culture.
Most of the coast line is in the United states not Mexico.
There is no reason we can't rename it unilaterally in new English language maps.
places all over the world have different names in diff rent languages.
that said gulf of Dixie makes more sense that Gulf of America as America has many different Gulfs. This one is really just belongs to the Southern States.

Obviously yes, we must not use any country name for shared international seas!
I always said name it Mississippi gulf for the major river, but America is a great suggestion same name as the land.
He can make a presidential official name!
And for all those who exaggerated trump ego, trump's "one dimension is his gigantic ego",
he should temporarily add his name the "gulf of (trump's) america" for 4 years just to troll them! But look !
he didn't put his name gulf of donald. Not ego.
Also he should officially name the wall "the great wall of trump" due to ACCURACY, HE pushed for it against outrageous opposition from activists judges and destructive democrats!
The US and Mexico both have 1,700 each miles on the gulf but ours is exponentially more important and prosperous. Yes.
No reason to change it, and the world would still call it Gulf of Mexico. Republican Congressman MTG has introduced a ridiculous bill to change its name. Let's hope that Congrss as a whole has the sense to defeat it.
Extreme ignorant. Plenty of reasons to fix the name.
2, obviously trump will change it for us.
3, what is ridiculous about named sea same as land.
Most of the Gulf is in America anyway so it should be renamed.
EVEN the mexico coast is the coast of latin "America ".
why hasn't he changes his residence's name...
to... Sea-To-Lake... the one in Flowery
It's now the "Gulf Of America" on Google Maps, so I guess that's officially the accepted name.
The Demon Rats changed the name of Military Bases. So what!
It has been Gulf of Mexico (Golfo de Mexico) since being called that on Spanish maps in the mid 16th Century. Seems like an odd thing to prioritize.
Not prioritize just "also fix" as part of "maga", along with the great wall of trump and other economic priorities.
With Hollywood burning I would have thought there were bigger issues to worry about
No conflict to do more than one thing.
Why should its name be changed its a historical thing should we change the name of the continent to Colombia
You self contradicted.
You use a "country name" for a continent while supported using a country name mexico for gulf!
Inverse if you were sarcastic then SAME CAN'T USE COUNTRY name!
No, of course not. What a stupid thing to do.
Why not name it as golf of trump
Trump has little to do with the gulf of Mexico which is mostly bordered by the southern states. Hence why a better name would be gulf of Dixie. America has many gulf's, this one is only unique to the south.
Well he is a friend of kim jung un.
@crazzyyworld
Better not give him a reason to make himself your new monarch then.
Either way you don't get a say on the issue being a Canadian subject. Your is simply to do what your puppet leaders tell you to do.
Sure.
Texas Gulf
I like that name but the other southern states which together have more coast line do not. Gulf of Dixie the historic name of the south makes the most sense, as together they have majority of the coast line.
