Which one is he?

Very few people today would insist that slavery should be permitted and no one could seriously suggest that the issue should be revisited. However, we now see some movement to remove monuments which honor the memory of men who are well known historical figures and who, aside from their historical renown, were slave owners. High schools named in honor of Confederate generals have been renamed and monuments have been removed by vandals as well as by government institutions.

Should this trend be abolished? If it is justified, should all schools, monuments, counties, towns, etc. named in honor of people who owned slaves be renamed?

These are just the first four I've read about this year. The list though keeps going, Male teachers included, but it seems to me that Female teachers lately are being busted in ever growing numbers. Is it just a smaller concern or have all teachers lost their minds?

Clementine Ford is a very controversial feminist. Not that long ago in Australia, she refused to take questions from males which caused many schoolgirls to walk out on her. I praise these females that walked out on her.

Hurricane Harvey was a category 4 hurricane that devastated Texas with record rainfalls. Hurricane Irma intensified to a Category 4 hurricane before making landfall in the Florida Keys. Hurricane Jose is also a Category 4 storm but it appears that it will turn northward and die over the cold North Atlantic waters. Three Category 4 hurricanes in one year is unusual, but the Atlantic has seen three or more Category 4 hurricanes in one season on previous occasions. Also, Harvey was the first major hurricane to strike the US since Hurricane Wilma in 2005, an eleven year span without significant hurricanes in the US.

I have seen some online posts suggesting that God is punishing us for electing Donald Trump; some people really do delight in beating a dead horse. Of course, if someone suggested that God was punishing us for being tolerant of homosexuality, that speaker would incur the wrath and fury of the PC crowd for making such a ludicrous suggestion. I have not seen any of the PC crowd lambasting the Trump bashers; go figure!

I have seen others suggest that this has been caused by global warming. That theory at least has enough substance to deserve a reply. Do you think that the intensity of the hurricanes this year is a result of global warming? If so, can you please explain - in plausible terms - how global warming causes intense hurricanes and why we had a span of eleven years without a significant hurricane in the US?

A columnist for the Sunday Times in Ireland has been fired, and told that he "will not write again" for the newspaper after one of his articles was branded "misogynistic", "anti-Semitic" and "disgraceful". A News UK spokesman said the column included "unacceptable comments both to Jewish people and to women in the workplace", and that an apology will also be printed in next week's paper, in addition to the grovelling personal apologies offered by the paper's editor, Martin Ivens.

In the piece, titled "Sorry, ladies - equal pay has to be earned", Kevin Myers suggested that BBC presenters Claudia Winkleman and Vanessa Feltz earned the highest salaries of any females employed by the BBC because they were Jewish. Commenting on the two of them, Mr Myers wrote: "Good for them. Jews are not generally noted for their insistence on selling their talent for the lowest possible price, which is the most useful measure there is of inveterate, lost-with-all-hands stupidity." In the article, Mr Myers also argued that male presenters may earn more because they "work harder, get sick less frequently and seldom get pregnant".

It was taken down following anger on social media and a formal complaint from the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism. The group claimed that the removal of the article and apology from editors within hours was "proof that the decision to include the column was irrefutably wrong". The group, which successfully called for Mr Myers' sacking, also called Myers a "vile, sexist, misogynistic anti-Semite", and said he should "no longer work as a journalist at any decent publication".
