Is is normal that my girlfriend wants me to delete/throw away all [decent] pictures of past ex-girlfriends?

I started dating my girlfriend recently and as I was showing her photos from my past (trips, holidays), we came across some with an ex-girlfriend. Some are pictures over 10-15 years old, some prints and some on the computer. I had a few longer term relationships in the past where we went on holiday together so they would contain nice scenery and such. She says I should delete everyone as I shouldn't have them.

She argues that I should be 'over' my ex-girlfriends from the past and don't need them around. I argue that they are just there as part of my past and no different than old friends, colleagues and such.

In the end, I deleted ones with just an ex and I without much background or scenery as to me, it was not too big of a deal. I do feel this isn't right though and that perhaps she is being out of line. She wants every single shred of evidence of an ex deleted or trashed. We've only been dating for 6 months! Is this right?

Thanks for the feedback. I see this (among other things) as an early warning sign and ended the relationship. It would only get worse.

You got a jealous girlfriend in your hand! Though, this is very common. My boyfriend (almost 5 years, living together) has some pictures of his ex-girlfriend on his computer. To be honest, I don't like seeing them. I haven't said anything about it. Like you said, it's part of his past and that's what makes him who he is today. I know he loves me and I don't have anything to worry about. But at time to time, I still get bothered by it. However, I don't bring it up because it's not that big of deal. Somethings are better off unsaid. It wouldn't be good if a argument turned into a fight started by something so little.

That is the craziest thing I have ever heard. Those pictures are a moment in your life whether you are still friends with the people in the photo or not. I almost think you should not take any pictures of you and her and just say it's because you 'don't want to risk the chance of having to throw it out later.' She's probably just upset that she wasn't around earlier in your life to be a part of those important moments to you but it does not excuse asking you to delete them. As long as you don't have them out in plain view or stare longingly at them, too bad for her.

I've never asked a boyfriend to delete photos.that sounds crazy to me! My significant other even has nude photos of his ex! He did a photography class, and she was one of his models. at first, it kind of bugged me, just because I think she looks better naked than I do lol but I trust him and hey, it's just a photo. he's over her, but it's his right to be able to look back and remember his past whenever he wants to.

No sir, these are parts of your history that she's asking you to delete and fond memories. It's not like you jack it to the pictures every night (Please excuse my way of saying it). I think she may be a bit too territorial at the moment, maybe it seems awkward for her because she never had a lengthy meaningful relationship? Then again I'm only 16.and you've got at least 20 years on me. Maybe a girl should take this answer.

Pictures of vacations and scenery with you and you ex in them? So what!

I could see if you had your ex's pictures just by herself, up around your house or one of just your ex in your wallet, and anyway. 6 months is NOT a long enough time to say diddley squat !

Ask her to stop being threatened by nothing!
