Why woumd ex break up out of the blue?

Break up I recently experienced has completely destroyed me.

My ex was really, really loving, he would always text sweet, reassure me, even the day of the break up he wouldn't stop texting about our future, marriage etc.

Next thing you know, we got into a minor argument, he tells me I don't care and I'm breaking up with you, followed by blocking me almost everywhere.

What could be the reason behind this? I know I should put it behind but I can't, I love him too much. I just can't believe that in matter of few hours you can go from I love you more than anything to being cold and blocking. What do you think could possible reasons be?
