Why do guys come back after a long no contact period?

I have had a few very bad breakups where the person had made it clear that they don’t want to hang out again. Then about a year or two later they try to contact me to check on me and one of them asked about a bad experience in college? I don’t get it. Do exes do this often? They don’t want to talk to you and then they just have a change of kind? I didn’t go back to either of these exes

There could be a few reasons. One is that they were seeing someone else at the time they were seeing you. They decided to go w the other person instead because for whatever reason the other person was better than you in their mind. So then they got what they wanted from that relationship or didn’t get what they wanted so they moved on, which meant coming back to you. Or they realized they made a mistake picking the other chick over you so they’re trying to come back. It could be too that they know you’d take them back regardless, you’re a door mat.

They realized messed up, grass not greener on other side, and the B- he cheated with probably did the same to him. You are still fallback girl. Move on from the same tired routine..

To make this a little more "inside man's mind" consider these outcomes: 1. we are wired to seek mate, seek woman approval and sex for reproduction. Not getting what he wants can end the interaction.

2. And some guys as silly as it sounds thinks the woman is going to run after him...

3."It is so good to be away from that drama for about two weeks" but that caring thing comes back and "maybe" she's still waiting on me. You might be the only one that gave him that "deep felt" attention.

4. And like if you said go, get out, I'm done then he is likely to become obsessed by you... give it 7-10 days of gym etc and reach back out. hope that is a little more helpful.
