Guys, Would you guys call you ex just after a month of breakup?

I broke up with my boyfriend a month ago because we were very toxic and our parents won't accept for our marriage. He asked me to stay in touch and we can be friends but I rejected because it would be hard for me to move on and every time we talk we argue with each other. So I needed space. But now after 1 month he called and asked me to meet him but again I refused it.

Would you guys call your ex? Is it because you miss them or just want to stay in touch with life updates? He sounded low when he asked to meet, should I be concerned and contact him and meet?
