Should I go back to my Ex?

Question

So 2 year my ex (then boyfriend) and I ended things silently we just went different ways without a word. At the time we start dating I was going through a heartbreak, which. he knew of. My feelings weren't strong for him, I had some hope my fiance (reason for heartbreak) and I could mend things and get married. my boyfriend at the time did not leave me but we carried on dating for the next 21 months we ended things without speaking about us. now he going through what I was going through, we recently met and he open up about he's dating problem and few troubles, he didn't say how he felt about me.
when I was in his position he was there for must of if for as much as I let him.
I don't know what to do, should I try rekindle things or just be there for him through this as friends.
I'm afraid that once the healing is done we might fall out love. should I call/text him.

are you okay with being single? I think someone who feels like they MUST be in a relationship is bound to make mistakes with who they choose to be in a relationship with, unless they are very lucky.
There's nothing inherently wrong with getting back with ex-partners. Sometimes people go back to ex's for the wrong reason (for example, they can't bear to be alone) Sometimes you need time apart to put things in perspective. When you start to look at the ex as just a human and not someone who was or is a potential partner, you start to see them more realistically.
If you're looking for a life-partner, something more than just a romantic partner, you ought to be compatible with them as friends first.
I recommend forgetting about officially labeling anything and see if you guys can actually be pals, actually be friends, two people who are there for each other and support each other. Just live your lives and be nice, polite, decent human beings to each other. If you end up caring for each other to the point of wanting to cuff each other, then so what if you're ex's.

Also, there's your age. If you really are in your late 20s, guess what, relationships are gonna look different in your 30s. There are things that an older adult would share with a 30 year old about their marriage and kids that they wouldn't say to a person in their 20s. Unless you really need to have kids, take your time and learn from them. Me, personally, Once I had been a seasoned adult for a while (basically after 30), I realized all these old people I meet, work with, talk to, including my parents, really just keep confirming the suspicions I had when I was younger.

Here's what I think, girl: Take things slow before diving back in romantically with your ex. You ended things quietly last time, so clearly there were issues left unresolved.

Yes, be there for him as a supportive friend while he goes through this heartbreak. But I'd wait to see how you both grow and change independently first before defining your relationship again. Make sure all the past baggage is unpacked and processed separately.

Give it time - a few months at least - of just talking as friends to rebuild trust and really understand each other now. See if those past feelings start to naturally resurface for the both of you once the initial emotional wounds heal.

Rushing back into dating so soon risks falling into old unhealthy patterns if the core relationship issues weren't fully addressed. Take the pressure off by just getting reacquainted on your own terms first.

This way you can be sure if romance rekindles, it's for the right healthy reasons and not just loneliness speaking. You both deserve that. Trust your gut - it'll let you know when the timing is right, if at all.

You never ever go back to an ex, regardless how you separated, whether in good or in bad terms.

In your case, I see that he sees you as a potential substitute candidate for his failed relationship. It is his 2nd. relationship that failed and please, don't make the mistake to take him back because, this guy is unreliable and has fears of commitments.

You will only succeed in hurting yourself once again because if you take him back, there is no guarantee that this time, the relationship will last longer. Then what?

You will be heartbroken again and you will lose all trust in men. Do not make that error twice.

An ex is past history, it's best to move on. Even trying to be friends is unlikely to be good for either of you. Think fondly of the 2 years you had, and find someone else.
