Why would an ex still be showing my pictures to his coworkers?

My ex broke up with me 7 weeks ago over over a very petty issue. I was devastated because I thought he was the LOML and this came out of the blue.

He called me to see how I'm doing and told me he started a new job and was showing my picture to new coworkers and said they all thought I was pretty.

He said he didn't want to get back together but loves and misses me. He also said he didn't feel sad at all over the breakup, but sometimes looks at my picture before going to bed.

Why call me to tell me any of this if he doesn't want to get back together? Why would he even bring me up let alone showing my picture to his coworkers, especially since he's with someone new?
