Why does my boyfriend keep searching for his ex and other women?

I went on his phone and he searched up his exes name in the Safari browser. This isn’t the first time that I’ve gone on his phone that he looked up her name. It’s his ex from high school. He also searched up four or five other girls on Instagram one of them was a friend that I lost contact with and I was talking to him about her. We started talking again so maybe he was just curious cause I talk about her but his ex and the four other girls , him searching other women makes me feel like he doesn’t actually love me because I think if someone truly loves you and wants to be with you that they wouldn’t feel the need to search up other women or exes I left his house he was sleeping and my birthday is coming up. It’s in two weeks. I know I need to break up with him, but I’m not sure if I should do it before or after my birthday, but I do wanna bring up the fact that he searched up his ex and these girls when he realize that I left his house he’s gonna text me and I’m just wondering how you think I should approach it and speak to him about it and if I can send a text and what I should write? I wanna be mature about it and I don’t wanna mention anything about breaking up. I just wanna see what he says when I say it besides like I’m sorry or something like I really would say is that maybe I’m not the girl for you and maybe we shouldn’t be together but I don’t wanna have to be the one to initiate. I just wanna be like why do you feel the need to do that if you’re with me?
