GUYS: What does it mean to hug and kiss on the cheek an ex?

Reading the answers I have come to question one more thing.

It really depends on how the ex hugs and kisses you right? Say if the hug was a little longer? If people just wanted to be on terms as friends, you wouldn't 'kiss' your ex on the cheek right?

For me it means that once when we were together she knew most of me and we shared many things and that even though the relationship didn't work out I still care about her very much. .

Fortunately in all three of my relationships so far they have ended amicably but we went through too much for me to just discard them

Well I mean to kiss on the cheek, THAT would mean something. You don't do that to your ex if you weren't feeling for them.

You're at a point where he feels you're both okay with each other. He greets/parts with this generic move.

I understand a hug to be generic, but what if the hug was a little tight? He hugged a millisecond longer? And what about the kiss on the cheek? Is that a generic move also?

Sometimes a guy can't control his response 100% so you have to give him a little leeway -- a little more or less than the norm. Kiss on the cheek we (European-standards) tend to do even with people we only know a little as part of a generic "Hi, nice to meet/see you."

Try not to jump to conclusions.
