The guy I'm talking to long distance has started calling me "Goob" on the regular.

Now, he'll also call me "babe" on the phone, in person, and over text, as well as "baby". He also consistently calls me every night, texts without me texting him, and responds to my texts. I'm also now his new alarm clock, so we talk every morning first thing.
But the " Goob" is throwing me off. Is this close to friendzoning?

Nah if a guy is willing to talk to a girl in the morning instead of sleeping he really likes her. Nicknames symbolise care and usualLy it's a way of flirting. It doesn't matter if the word chosen is weird it's the fact that he gave u one. Your all good.
