+1 yI think it depends on where you live. I'm 5'7 (170) since i was 13 and majority of adults height in my area were 150cm for female.
My classamates average height were around 140 cm. I remember i was always the tall girl and people pick up on me for my height. One of my teacher told the class that it's good to be tall just not as tall as *mention my name* cz she's too tall it doesn't look nice. It was really hurtful to hear that esp in front of the whole class.
Now I'm an adult and i live oversea. I feel more comfortable here, i dont feel like a giant anymore lol
Plus lots of guys don't want a girl that's taller than them. There are exceptions but this is the majority. Maybe they feel intimidated I don't know. But it's good that you're not like that :)01 Reply
Asker+1 yOf course it depends. I can't say that majority of guys dont want a girl taller than them. :) At least in north.

Well probably because there's actually plenty of guys who wouldn't date us/reject us because they'd consider us "too tall" but that's okay because everyone has a preference and to most guys short girls are probably more feminine and cuter hence more desirable.
It's just like most girls would probably prefer a taller guy. It's life and the trick is to find someone who doesn't mind height. :)
(I'm 5'10" by the way.)031 Reply
Asker+1 yhahaha too funny! :D reject a tall girl? I mean, rejecting a short girl is normal but rejecting a tall girl sounds weird. Almost all of my friends reject short girls because this is sign of unhealthy childhood. We mean height too, but only if girl is short. The taller the better :)
Asker+1 y5"10, 178 cm? You are 2 cm shorter than my ideal height. My taller friends may find you too short but you are ideal for average guys i think.
Asker+1 yAverage Swedish girls are like 168cm. There are much more woman than man in Sweden.
Asker+1 yMost Swedish guys are around 180 and they prefer girls around their height? What is wrong with that?
Asker+1 yI did not mock by the way, where is mocking?
- +1 y
Just the way you phrase things makes it seem like you're trolling plus you're anonymous so you could easily just claim to be from any country that is known for being tall.. If you're not trolling then you're still wrong to say that most guys in Sweden would reject girls for being too short just because that's what you might be doing because that is simply not true..
Asker+1 y"most guys in Sweden would reject girls for being too short just because that's what you might be doing because that is simply not true.." how can you know that?
isn't it true that most Western girls reject a guy because he is shorter? What is difference?- +1 y
Because I'm a tall girl and I've been rejected for being too tall just like my tall friends and these are actually girls from Scandinavia and even the Netherlands which is the tallest country in the world btw! I know it because of the experiences I and those other tall girls have made. I know it for a fact.
And exactly like short guys, tall girls just aren't the preferred type for most guys to date.
I don't know what point you're trying to make with this question but you're not gonna get there like this.
Asker+1 yAre you rejected because of your height in Sweden? Dont belive it, 178cm is considered ideal in Sweden?
Men from other countries are around 175 so they may reject you. But average height in Sweden is 181cm and 178 cm girl sounds perfect for average? :)
Asker+1 yAre you rejected in Sweden or America?
- +1 y
MY FRIEND FROM NORWAY IS A 179CM TALL MODEL AND GETS REJECTED FOR BEING TO TALL ALLL THE TIME. I'VE BEEN AROUND THE WORLD AND THE ONLY PLACES I'VE BEEN TO WHERE PEOPLE REALLY LIKE TALL GIRLS ARE SPAIN, ITALY, JAPAN AND KOREA.
SO PLEASE SHUT UP WITH THE BS AND GENERALISATIONS AND GET REAL!!
Asker+1 yno sense. 179cm woman rejected in Norway? oh she must be look like Susan Boyle to be rejected?
Asker+1 yI dont understand why do you think I am a troll. :D
- +1 y
@littlejin well I can just judge by the reactions of people to me when I was there but maybe I'm just generally "their type"
- +1 y
Spanish guys are not obsessed with height (unlike somebody, guess who) so does not matter you are tall or short. Petite is preferred but if you are slim and pretty, most of them think you are hot. Actually, it is valid for all around the World. I dont understand why Scandinavians put very much emphasis on height. :D
- +1 y
@littlejin I swear they really don't, I wonder where the Asker got this from tbh..
Asker+1 y@littlejin I think it is a lie you shorties want to belive :D
- +1 y
@littlejin So you don't mind dating a shorter guy U?
Asker+1 y@Jooker strong genes or worse genes. tall woman have better genes, better proportions. Always superior to short or average.
Asker+1 y@Eric644 Agree :)
+1 yI'm just about 6ft and it's a mixed bag for me. Most days I'm good with it. I'm a size 0-2 with an hourglass figure so usually being tall makes me feel glamorous and elegant.
But sometimes you don't wanna be glamorous or stand out you just wanna blend in xD and tall girls always stand out in a crowd xD012 Reply- +1 y
Asker+1 yGirls around 6ft are goddess! Maria Sharapova, Brigitte Nielsen. Dream of all men :D
- +1 y
Size 0-2 in... like, mall store brands, right?
I mean, it'd be NUTS if you wore a true size 0 or 2 (like, in designer brands) at yr height. That'd be almost physiologically impossible. Even Elle Macpherson at the peak of her modeling career was still a US size 4.
When I was an editorial model, I was 6'2" and about 120-125lbs, and I was still a size 4 (eu40). Even a 6 (eu42) in a couple brands. Although I could totally wear size 0 in USA mall-store brands, lol. Sometimes even size 00.
My measurements back then were about 35-26-36.
So, I guess I'm asking, which 0-2? And/or what are yr measurements? Because if you are 6' tall with a 24" waist, I'd sh#t myself lol - +1 y
@redeyemindtricks designer haha! i have a 24" waist lol. And 36" hips. My waist is obnoxiously small. Summer last year it was 23" actually.
I have no idea how my waist got so tiny xD - +1 y
waaaaattt that's so smalllll omg!
d.gr-assets.com/.../18357343.gif
Can you even wear mall clothes? - +1 y
@redeyemindtricks it depends what you mean by mall clothes. Most of the stores around here don't carry small enough sizes for me. I usually shop online from Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie and Fitch, Calvin Klein etc
- +1 y
Was gna say.
A&F lol... oh dear. Brands that imitate thrift stores, then charge full price.
Have you ever tried yoox. com? It's like a GIANT online outlet store for all the Italian and Euro brands.
The first time you try it, you'll need a really long time to sift through the site and familiarize yourself with all the different brands. And the way they label sizing conversions is... less than ideal, let's just say.
But, once you know yr way around the site, you'll be able to find great deals on brands with sizes that'll actually fit you.
They are good with things like returns, too (since lots of things you just won't know how they'll fit, etc. until you actually have them in yr hands). Definitely worth giving a shot, if you haven't already. - +1 y
@redeyemindtricks haha yeahh I know xD but the thing is their clothes are made to fit well on tall/skinny girls. Any brand that has the tall fashion models is good for my body type.
And ooh I will check it out! Have you tried poshmark? You have to dig and be reaaally careful but you can get some great quality stuff! They have a lot of high end brands too. - +1 y
Ahh yeah, posh is pretty decent as far as searching stuff, but, for the most part you should just get people to sell you stuff off of it -- mercari or, even better, directly through paypal.
Posh takes an INSANE commission (I think it's like 20% after the first $5 or something) and they just raised their shipping fees by another dollar, too.
Posh knows their audience well. They're really just trying to maximize convenience for sellers who want to do absolutely as little work as possible.
I mean, their whole flat-rate shipping thing is what gives that away the most -- they even use the same 5-pound label for jewelry pieces that weigh 2 ounces! They're just trying to attract sellers who are like, "Weigh stuff? Pack things so they weigh less? Meh too much work"
LOL - +1 y
@redeyemindtricks lol you have to give me some more tips you do your research! I'm such a lazy shopper. If it looks pretty and comes in my size I buy it. I could probably have spent a lot less on clothes than I have in my life so far xD
+1 yI'm 187cm, so I can relate, and I find tall girls really attractive (I don't get the "girls should be shorter" idea, I like someone about my height), but the few I know are very conscious about it. I've tried my best to get one of them, with whom I'm friends, to be more positive about it, but that hasn't helped much. It's really a shame that so many tall girls want to be shorter.

@littlegirlturk No I'm Ukrainian living in Canada.
Asker+1 yI prefer around 180 so 175-185 is good for me. This range is considered ideal in Sweden.

Girls in Canada tend to be shorter.
The average female height here is 161 cm.
Asker+1 ynahh. sorry for you :/

I just met an incredible woman in here who's 6'2"! She is confident as heck about her height and I love it!

+1 yI'm 157 cm :P I guess tallness is associated with masculinity and a lot of girls prefer to keep away from stereotypical masculine traits (e. g. having body hair). Plus a hell of a lot of guys in my experience would say that a girl that tall can make them feel insecure. Like old fashioned ideas, y'know? It sucks cause tall girls are great.
Asker+1 yHeight is masculine trait? :D lol. In my country all girls below 175cm have complex about it.
- +1 y
Hmm, I quite like my height. You're from Sweden, right? The average height for females here is like 5'5 (165 cm) and the guys are on average 5'9 (175 cm). Here, height is definitely viewed as a masculine trait, I guess because our women are so small, y'know?
Asker+1 yAverage height is 168 for female and 181 for male. Height is never viewed as a masculine trait for woman. All models are tall?
- +1 y
Yeah and a lot of models have masculine features? Androgyny is something desired in models, especially nowadays, androgyny is kinda in. Models are also generally tall and slim with small busts and thin hips - they exhibit a lot of masculine traits.
It may not be viewed as a masculine trait in Sweden, that does not mean that it is not viewed that way elsewhere. - +1 y
I think it's kinda rude and really inaccurate to say being tall is masculine. You can be tall and very willowy/slender and small boned. I don't think most people think of it as a masculine trait :/
Asker+1 y@rescuemyheart Tallness never viewed as a masculine trait in Sweden, a trait all women envy and all guys seeking for. ;)
- +1 y
@rescuemyheart I didn't say I believed tallness was a masculine trait. As I've already said, I love tall girls, I think the height is beautiful. But it is a feature of androgyny that's popular in the fashion industry.
Asker+1 yandrogny: sexy <3
- +1 y
Well, yeah, I agree.
- +1 y
Asker+1 y@Eric644 Dude, in Sweden guys get imitated from girls taller than themselves because it is a norm. Sweden is a feminist country and there is not such kind of gender roles. All guys go for tall girls.
- +1 y
Sweden must be a pretty unique society. While many men in the US do find tall girls attractive, many are scared to approach them because of our gender role beliefs, because women are pressured by their peers to abide by those rolls. Many women will not date a man that is less than 5 inches taller than them just to please their peers and society. Many girls in anglo speaking countries care about the opinion of their girlfriends and get shit from their friends if they date a guy under 6ft or a guy that doesn't completely tower over her. Men don't care here, but women do. I wish women here were more like women in Sweden or most European countries.
Asker+1 y@Eric644 Women in Sweden also care height as American girls, but men care height as much as them. This is equality.
+1 yIf it shows that you have strong genes (*cough* tallness is a reccessive genetical trait *cough*), then why is the average MALE height 175cm, and humanity still survived troughout history?
Asker+1 yaverage male height in my country is 181cm according to Wiki.
- +1 y
In my country is 175cm and it used to be 170cm according to Wikipedia. >.>
And girls are naturally shorter than guys (with about 10-12cm), so if the average male height is 181cm, then a normal girl's height is around 169-171cm.
Asker+1 yYes but we prefer girls around our height, not that much shorter.
- +1 y
If this is true, then why is my mother 19cm shorter than my father?
Asker+1 yDont know but none of my friend want that much shorter girl.
- +1 y
Still, you generalized too much.
You can't say something like prefferences to hold truth for a whole sex.
Asker+1 yMaybe there are guys who like short girls, but it is my observation.
- +1 y
I don't want to brust your bubble (okay, I do), but think about this: If no guy would have wanted a shorter girl, then the short gene would have gone extinct till now.
Every guy I've ever met has expressed a preference for short girls (being 5'11, I'm taller than most guys)

Asker+1 ywhat kind of country is that? I mean, I think preference for short woman is like preference for fat woman. :D tall is always better.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yWow. sounds like you are a heightist sizequeen but now in male gender.
I dont mind height of my boyfriend, but i would mind if he is a shallow jerk like you. :)18 Reply
Asker+1 ywhy should I have to be OK with short girls? I mean, if she had been healthy at her childhood, she would be taller. Physical attraction is also important for me.
Opinion Owner+1 yaaaah yeah physical attraction.. I understand you. You Swedes have interesting fetishes. "We must be 175 tall to this ride." Then I am sorry for that ride... :/
Asker+1 yAgain, fetish is "sexual tendencity to things out of biological preferences. Tall girl preference is general thing. All of my friends want tall model look woman, so yes we models are our fetish."
Opinion Owner+1 ySweden may have " tall model look" ideals, but we dont. Beauty is beholder and may be different in other countries. :) But, I think you are vain, "I only date with models." LOL.
Asker+1 yNo offense but what kind of culture is that? Models are adorable?
Opinion Owner+1 yNo offense but do you think you are right to judge other cultures? :D well, I am a latin girl and petite latn girls loved in US. Swedish guys can be absend, so they can prefer whoever they want. I mean, aren't you too picky about only one characteristic?
Asker+1 yWell, that is me. Some people say you are who you fuck, so I have some standards.
Opinion Owner+1 yYou have right to have standards. So, good luck, I hope you will find "true love." :)
Anonymous(36-45)+1 ylet me understand something; is it a preference or a requirement? I agree that tall girls should not have complex but, would you reject a girl only because she is 179cm?
by the way why metric?04 Reply
Asker+1 yI prefer taller than 180cm but dont reject if she is not under 175cm.
Opinion Owner+1 yIs it a fetish?
Asker+1 yFetish is sexual tendencity to things out of biological preferences. Tall girl preference is general thing.
Opinion Owner+1 y"general thing" around the world or in your culture? Dont be such kind of egoist who think "what we prefer is human insisct." Swedes dont represent all homo sapiens. :)
+1 yIt's only too tall if she desperately demands guys to be 6 inch taller.
