Why do girls add extra letters to words texting?

So I know this is probably a noob question. But sometimes I'll occasionally get the normal Heyyy! Normal ones like that. But last night I got a "Aw thanks ___, You're a Great Brotherrrrr" And she doesn't drink so no she wasn't drunk. Why would she add this many letters lol...

No idea. It annoys me, but it's pretty trivial so I've never said anything about it.

Then again I text in complete sentences.

To give the end of the sentence a softer feel instead of the harsher looking "you're a great brother"
