What does being uptight mean?

I've been called being uptight by a few guys - but I don't think I am. I'm very outgoing and friendly, but can be introverted - it really depends on the person I'm interacting with.

But to be called out as uptight? What does it even mean?

To me an uptight person is someone who takes themselves too seriously. They can't laugh at themselves. They easily get stressed out, because to them everything is so serious. They can't relax and just be in the moment at anytime. They're always very self conscious about how they look, or what they say or really just anything going on in their life. Someone who is stuck in their head most of the time.

I've been called this, myself. I don't know I think it's rude. My guy called me "high strung" the other day. I'm not sure if that's an improvement lol. I guess it is important to acknowledge this about yourself, you know? I'm not sure how else I would describe this trait about myself.

Being uptight means basically the opposite of being loose and easy going. An uptight person gets stressed easily and thus induces stress in others.
