Becoming iodine sufficient, and using Lugols iodine between teeth and gums before bed will solve that problem if everything else in your diet it good. However, one has to understand all about iodine because simply placing drops between the teeth and gums, without understanding the full iodine protocol can cause worse problems than morning breath.

A few drops of clove on your toothpaste and brush, before brushing may help too, but be careful because it may sting.

Everyone in the comments seems to assume that morning breath is inevitable, and even normal! Shocking! Maybe you guys should look beyond what the Dentist tells you because you have to remember they wouldn't have a business if your teeth remained healthy and clean.

Consuming fermented cod liver oil may also help from the perspective of increasing dental health.

There is something that can be done about it. Everyone has morning breath. Lol. You can either:

A. Use mouthwash as soon as you get up.
B. Use breath spray in the morning, like this blebby.com/.../scope-outlast-long-lasting-mint-breath-mist-0-24-fl

I typically use B. I keep it by my bedside and as soon as I wake up, I spray it in my mouth.

I wanted to smell my boyfriend's morning breath, because his mouth always smells amazing so I was just wondering what his smelled like but I didn't ask him to, I didn't got to smell it he turned his head away every time he talks. It has actually never bothered me. Unless she has a really bad diet, doesn't drink water, or didn't brush her teeth last night; the smell can be somewhat arousing.
