Why does my boyfriend want to see my natural hair?

Question

My boyfriend and I have been together for about two years and have slept over at each other's houses countless times. But he has never seen my natural hair and I honestly don't want him to. When I get up first thing in the morning, I take a shower, blow dry my hair & then straighten it before he even wakes up. I'm much more confident with it straight and just generally feel a lot better about myself.

When it is freshly washed, it is SO curly (like ringlets) and becomes a little frizzy once it dries. A few days ago when my boyfriend asked what I was up to, I was like "Just straightening my hair." He was immediately surprised and was like "What? I thought your hair was naturally straight." I was like "No. It's actually very curly but I straighten it because I like it better that way."

Ever since that conversation he has been begging me to show him my natural hair. He's like "Come on. Please? I love curly hair and wanna see how it looks on you." Why does he wanna see it? I feel it makes me less attractive and whenever I'm around girls with naturally straight hair I feel less pretty. He insists he loves me either way but why does it matter so much to him? Lol :) Am I the only one who feels this way? ⁦

Omg I totally relate. He just really loves you that’s all so it’s a good thing. Hopefully one day you’ll feel confident enough to show him but until then just tell him maybe another time because you just like it better like this. But I know how you feel. I was with this guy for a year and a half and I don’t think he ever saw me without straight hair, the only time he saw me with my natural hair was 6 months after we broke up and I was just running an errand at night and bumped into him! I looked like a wild animal 😂😂

He wants to see you just the way you are. He senses your resistance and doesn’t understand it. He will continue to push until he sees it. And when he does he won’t understand still why it so significant to you that he doesn’t see it.

In other words it’s important to him because you’ve inadvertently made it a big deal

1) Curiosity, there's something about you he hasn't seen.
2) furthering that point, its something that to some extent you have hidden from him. Making it automatically more intriguing.
3) Your insistance you dont want him to see is going to make him want to see it more.
4) Because like it or not its the real you, and he wants to see it at least once. Its good to see eachother warts and all sometimes.

I'd just do it let him see, I like girls with wavy and curly hair and don't know why they always straighten it or girls with straight hair like to curl it. actually I don't mind what kind of hair they have but bed head is kind of a turn on. so its just curiosity.

Curly hair is way better than straight hair in my opinion. I straighten my hair several times a year and usually just wash and go. I bet he actually does love curly hair and he just wants to see you natural. I can't believe you went that long keeping your real hair from him lol that's mind blowing.

Maybe he wants to know you trust him enough to even see sides of yourself you dislike :) or maybe he thinks you'd look good with curly hair and wants to confirm it. Also when you tell anyone "you can't see this" we all instantly wanna see it. Hell I don't know you or what you look like and even I am now curious what you look like with curly hair thanks to this post haha

Maybe he likes curly hair better. It's always nice to have some variety instead of the same thing all of the time as well.
Also, knowing what your significant other really looks like instead of the face they present the world also brings people closer together. (in my opinion)
If you don't want to, then don't. I know I'd pester you because I would be curious. I also like straight hair better myself. I also like variety, so the occasional day of curly hair would spice things up just enough.

If he likes girls with curly hair I can see why he wants to see how it looks on you. When my boyfriend first met my, I had colored hair extensions in my hair and when he saw me without them he told me I looked wayy better with my short hairstyle. I can understand if you feel insecure when your hair isn't straight, just maybe one day when you're not planning on going anywhere, just let him see.

I'm kind of the same way... I want to know what a girl looks like naturally at least once, because then I could say I've seen how beautiful you naturally are. After that I'd just let you do what you wanted, and tell you how beautiful you are, natural or not. I guess just the experience of seeing your partner a way that nobody else does is comforting. Because then you have just one more thing that nobody else can say they've seen (family and close friends excluded).

Could be worse, he could hate curly hair and forbid you from ever having curly hair for whatever reason.

Besides, he says he likes girls with curly hair, so if he likes you now, he might find you even more attractive with curly hair, it couldn't hurt to try.

He may wantnto see the real, all-natural you. In my opiniom you should let him see your curls, im sure they're gorgeous and he'll love you even more for letting him see a side of you that you may not particularly like. Letting him give his opinion may help you feel better about that insecurity of yours. Finally, ifnyou dont like the frizzyness maybe you could look for a good hair product. Hope this helps!! :)
