Is there a difference when a guy says “love ya” vs “I love you” I was upset He talked to be for a half hour trying to make me feel better I texted him “thanks for talking to me, I feel a lot better, He said “no need to thank. that’s what friends are for! Love ya ( my name)”

"I love ya" is a more friend-like term. While "I love you" is more deep and more meaningful if that makes sense.

Just put it on front street, tell him to his face that you want to go out on a date, or directly tell him in a message that you like him more than a friend. Do this because guys can be dense and miss signals, like miss the most obvious ones, all the damn time. Also it will get things going instead of stagnating.
