Is there a difference between 'love you' and 'love ya'?

I usually don't notice little things like this but I couldn't help it.

the whole time me and my guy friend have been friends the last about 2 months he's always said 'love ya.' Recently he's been acting a bit different with me kinda got vibes he liked me but I didn't think too much of it, and now he's been saying 'love you' instead and even said 'I love you to death.'

Am I overthinking this or is there truly a difference?

It all Depends on the Person and the Situation.
For a Guy that's a Friend to the End, "Love ya" is what I put. I do Not wish to Lead him on.
And when it is a Girl who is a Family Friend and I want her to know that she is a Family ONLY and not Someone, hun. who is a "Ya," For there Are by Far many Thinned ones in this World, especially Online, I will put "Love you." As in a Loving gesture in my Heart.
For a Guy who is my Best from the Rest, "I love you" is the Better of of the Two. "I am In Love with you" Would then Sum it up. xx

Yes, I would say there is a difference.

"Love ya" feels a lot more casual and less sincere. My boyfriend actually types it that way sometimes (-.-) but I know it's just his thing and the way he talks.

I think he's caught feelings to be honest. Trust your gut instinct about things like that. If you can feel those vibes and that's for a reason. You're probably right. The question is how do you feel about him? :o

yes there's a difference. I've specifically used "love ya" when talking to girls. basically it's more like saying love you as a friend or sister or I care about you.
but when someone says "I love you" that's love as a man loves a woman. totally different level.
the question, now, is not if he has feelings for you (he does) the question is do you have feelings for him

It sounds like he's becoming more comfortable telling you he loves you. "Love ya" can sound offhanded. It's a defense mechanism so, if it backfires, he can tell you or himself that he only meant it in a friendly way.

Love ya is more offhand, in my opinion. Love you is a more direct statement, and carries more weight. I would say he's not so subtly hinting something, from just that.
