Friend vs brother?

I would like to know why it is good being referred to as a brother to a female. Growing up in a generation of toxic masculinity and body shaming norms has drilled in me that rejection means failure. I am pretty dorky with an ADHD background. I have been referred to as a brother instead of a partner many times. This to me is worse than a friendzone. What is good about being the brother? How does one rebound from something like that?
