I mean is it normal to date with someone who isn’t your type? I really love him but now I started to feel really unattractive when I’m around him

He just gave you an honest answer even though it wasn't going to be what you wanted to hear. All other things being equal, would you not prefer a guy who makes 5 times what he does? Ok so you don't voice that to him, but it is what it is. Yes everyone has a mental image of ideal, but the reality is that people weigh and balance everything. I'm assuming he wouldn't be with you if he found a brunette unattractive.

by the way he is wrong, brunettes > blondes every day of the week.
