Its common to see a guy wear small hoop earrings. Makes em look like a pirate. But i find earrings on a guy (including stud earrings) to be feminine and a turnoff

Generally though, I think you need to fit a stereotype associated with those kinds of things. Like the biker covered in tattoos and piercings. Nobody would be very surprised, as the persons style is so extreme to begin with...
