Definitely a red flag for me.
How long should you wait? Until you are comfortable.
I have seen this kind of thing for many years. The problem with communicating by text is that we miss all the non-verbal queues. Depending on who you ask, non-verbal queues make up from anywhere from 60 to 90 percent of our communications. Not only do we miss the non-verbal parts like body language and expressions, but we also don't have the verbal clues like verbal pacing, inflection, volume, etc. What I find real interesting is that when we don't have all of this information, our brain just fills in what it expects to be there. Try reading an e-mail from someone and pretend that they are your worst enemy. Wait a while and re-read the mail and pretend that they are your best friend or lover. The same words can have a completely different feel. I have seen so many people that talk online by text only that think they are in love. I have seen people move across the country to live with their "soul mate" only to find out that this isn't even someone they want to hang out with. If you have spent some time with someone and understand their mannerisms, it's a bit more accurate when you read their writing, but still, you miss so much.
So... he is probably just thinking that you are way further along than you actually are.

Yeah that's bizarre forget any guy that wants to be roommates before dating!!! Usually I chat once or twice, then go for a short date, like a dinner or coffee and a walk. If there is no connection move on! Don't waste time just chatting online.
About two years?🙄
Nope lol, I'm just kidding. I wouldn't meet until I trusted him.
