Is it affectionate when someone tells you goodnight?

If someone says goodnight and then your name. Like “goodnight Hannah”, or am I reading too much into it?

It can be. Not many people use my name and I rarely use my wife's. I tend to call her "babe" and she just doesn't have a pronoun for me.

My best mate calls me "mate" or "chap" - which goes both ways.

I have one friend who calls me by name, which I enjoy because of how our relationship is.

I spent a lot of time in the Westcountry in England, where the moniker "lover" is common. When I told one friend that she started calling me "lover" - which I've suggested she not do around my wife!

But yes, if I wish someone goodnight by name I mean it as an affectionate gesture

I believe telling someone goodnight at the end of a conversation is an affectionate ending to the day. It lets them know they are thinking about them even after the conversation ends. Or maybe it is just because I am a hopeless romantic... lol

Not really. I think there needs to be context behind a goodnight. Me and my boyfriend make it a routine to say goodnight and Goodmorning to each other , but that’s our way of affection.

Only if you dont like it, its not about what he says, its about your reaction. Maybe he was raised that way. Truthfully your one lucky girl to have a guy like that. Lots of guys on youtube are evil abusers. Have to go through that evil to respect what you got when you awoke... What you got to watch out for is the negitive. Mask slips.. The cycle of abuse. that's not abuse, its respect, happiness..
