Guys, what's your intention when you offer to drive a girl for a meal? Won't you feel awkward that only the two of you are in the car?

The answer is "no" it wouldn't be awkward. Here's why:

Either, you are friends with this guy, and therefore wouldn't even THINK about it "being awkward" with just the two of you in the car... because... it's your friend.

or

The guy offering you a ride in his car is someone you DON"T consider "a friend". It might be a guy you know a bit, or it might be a guy you just met.

Now... THIS guy is offering you the ride SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE that means you're going to be alone in the car together. This guy has some... sexual intentions towards you. THAT IS WHY HE IS OFFERING YOU THE RIDE. I'm not saying that the guy is going to try and have sex with you in his car. But if it's "a guy" you don't really know offering you a ride... he is hitting on you. He's asking you to go for a ride in a similar way that he might ask you to go on a date. He would try and minimize awkwardness in the exact same way a guy would on a first date. He'll try and chat you up, and (hopefully) impress you enough that you'll be interested in him. Or he might try and have sex with you in his car. I don't know this guy. But I DO know that he's hitting on you.

So... I'm guessing this is not a guy you consider a friend. So don't worry about the awkwardness so much as the implications of agreeing to that ride. It's a date.

This is concerning. First of all, the "meal" is a "date". You do realize that right? Also... honestly... I know he has sexual intentions because... THAT IS WHAT THIS MEANS. It's not even like this is something that is unclear. This is widely understood. He assumes that you know what this means. This is just a commonly understood social situation.

It's the same way: If some guy you don't know asks "can I get your number" that means that
he wants your number because he is interested in you romantically/sexuallty. Right now what you just said is EXACTLY the same as saying:

Well... how do you know that's why he asked me for my number? Maybe he was just looking for someone to talk to.

It's concerning that you are still doubting this. Concerning because you shouldn't be. This is the same as "can I get your number"... EVERYONE understands what is really happening.

also, I should say the intentions are sexual, but they might very well be romantic/sexual. Like I'm not saying this guy is just trying to get in your pants. He might be interested in dating. But YOU ARE talking about a date here. There is no doubt about that.

No, I'm not necessarily saying he intends to try and have sex with you in the car. Just that this is a date. Including the car-ride. So insofar as "men who ask a woman on a date have sexual intentions"... he has sexual intentions. That's all I meant by that. He might be a "wait until marriage" kinda guy, and I'd still say "sexual intentions" when it pertains to a date (even when sex is not on the table).

So as for what you should do for the car-ride. It's essentially the same question as "what will you do for the meal part of the date". So, essentially the answer is you end up "talking and getting to know each other". Joke, laugh, flirt, talk, all the same things you'll be doing at the meal part of the date.

But... I mean... how long is this car-ride going to be anyway?
