Why is a lady being chubby seen as such a negative / less value thing?

As someone who dated a girl who used to be chubby, she lost the weight before I dated her, she still carried a chip on her shoulder and still viewed herself as overweight.

I'm not going to lie, I am attracted to some women who may be regarded as chubby, but I wouldn't date a girl like this again personally, due to the chip on the shoulder thing. (Could be a one off I don't know)

Statically, both men and women are attracted to people who are in shape. So it's not a one-sided thing. In my view I think there is a biological nature to it, but I have no proof. Being overweight is a sign of health and fertility, so when people pick partners, they want someone in good health and can produce healthy offspring. I think this nature exists in humans, but I haven't done the research to figure it out.

Sexual animals of all species instinctively prefer to mate with a partner likely to produce healthy offspring. People are no different. We are naturally attracted to others that appear to be healthy and physically fit.

As we come to know people, we may become attracted to them for other reasons.

The only reason why I criticize weight, is cause I myself used to be overweight and I made some changes in my life. So if I can do it, anyone can. Many people have, it’s just people like to put up excuses and expect great things with literally no effort put forth

I think if someone is obese or underweight to the point it possesses obvious medical issue then there isn’t really a reason to comment as everyone is different and nobody knows the journey they are on. but in general I think people on this site, maybe are very critical when in reality it’s not like their dating options are like tiny size 0’s.. most likely not

Because of preference, more people are likely to like someone that is fit or on the thinner side, but that doesn’t mean someone won’t like you for the way you are.

I think some women tend to be more likely to think of themselves as being chubby then the men they're with too and it's a guy makes on flattering comments about her figure then he's not a good dude to be with.

Not to the point it's called a negative to be honest, it is not that much of a value difference either, but the more in shape the better, just like with guys, it's not a deal breaker at all but it's almost a soft plus

I’m not superficial I have dated a few men that would be considered chubby and I was attracted to them enough. My point is, I don’t judge because nobody knows the journey they are on what if they’re trying to lose weight or have and this is them on their journey you know I just think, it’s a superficial thing to criticise BUT everyone has different standards, tastes and opinions as what they view as attractive or mating worthy

What does their journey have to do with it? When it comes to physical attraction, it's what you see that counts. For men, at least. Maybe women have special vision that let's you see into people's souls. Us guys, we just have eyeballs.

Maybe she's 20 lbs overweight, down from 120 lbs over. Maybe she's lazy and has always been overweight. Maybe she's tried really hard to lose weight and struggled, but hasn't lost it yet. She looks the same either way.
