+1 yA summer flower festival in some stately home gardens.
sounds okay doesn’t it…
well apart from we both have really bad hay fever, she knew she did and she knew i did.
then because her mum had suggested we went there, we did.
We suffered for 2 hours walking around this place, eyes running, nose streaming, sneezing. Basically a nightmare.
At one point we looked at each other and under normal circumstances would have kissed, but we both had ‘snot’ on our tear streaked faces.
another date I had with someone I thought was going to be weird , dumb, crazy, was when she picked a night out at this hotel where they had speed dating on.
i mean, we had already been on a date, this was second and was she now looking to trade me in? Lol
However, it actually was a great laugh, I ended up asking all sorts of questions I would never normally ask and we left early having ‘tapped off’ with each other.310 Reply- +1 y
Omg, I have GOT to be honest… if a guy took me on a speed dating thing, there is very little chance I would pick him. There is nothing like the “let’s data other people” speech, on the FIRST date. 😅😂🤣😂😅
- +1 y
@CrazyGirl2 ditto.
I felt like I was like she was undecided which dress to buy and doing a compare 😂😂 - +1 y
Ew. Why would they have speed dating at a hotel? That sounds sketchy a f.
- +1 y
I personally would have loved the festival at the gardens. Sorry about your allergies, though. I once kind of "talked" to a girl who said she had a lot of allergies. She was nice, but I don't think it would have worked out.
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs when I say hotel, don’t think usual hotel
These tend to be stately home type of places.
https://www.kilworthhouse.co.uk/ - +1 y
@Jamie05rhs Wait! When did he say it was in a hotel? He did mention a stately home, but they are massive palaces where royalty used to live, NOT hotels! But he didn’t even say the speed dating was AT the stately home? Did you maybe accidentally answer the wrong question?
- +1 y
@CrazyGirl2 He literally said "hotel.". 😂
Honey, you need a nap. 🧡 - +1 y
@ChrisMaster69 That looks really cool.

@CrazyGirl2 thank you for MHG, most appreciated and great question.❤️

although there was a time where i was thinking of asking this one girl i worked with to a nearby swap meet. Maybe that might’ve been too odd for a date thinking back lol.
whatever though it never happened26 Reply- +1 y
Yeah, that would definitely be the first AND last date for the guy who took me shopping for other peoples used “stuff”. Thanks for the answer sweetie.
- +1 y
i just figured it had the opportunity for something fun or even romantic to happen.
- +1 y
Yeah, it’s def an original idea, but probably not a very good idea though🤔. Let’s just be thankful that you had time to bounce it off one of your female friends BEFORE you actually went through with it! 😮💨
- +1 y
actually i remember asking about it on here haha. it was only back in 2016. a number of people shared your opinion on it so you aren't alone.
- +1 y
No… I did not for one second think I would be. Certainly not for a first date at a flea market. 🤯. Don’t get me wrong, I friggin’ love flea markets / swap shops, not as much as malls, but I have been to one with a boyfriend, but he already WAS my boyfriend, it wasn’t a first date.🙄 🥰😘💋

+1 yDinner Theater with another couple. One of the worst attempts... I should in my opinion it was a bad play. A "humorous" 1930s murder mystery. Everyone else seemed to enjoy it but the over repeated and often shouted catch phrase still echoes in my ear... "SOMETHINGS GOING ON HERE!" The "gangster" guy was the most grating. I think he was going for a 30's Chicago mobster accent but he kept blending it with a New York accent. It was like watching Joe Pesci play Al Capone on acid.
23 Reply- +1 y
So other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play? 🤣. But seriously, was it a good date? I ask because my parents went to a carnival on their first date. First the bumper cars were TOO fast and my dad split his forehead (mom cleaned it up and fixed it with Steri-strips (butterflies) she keep in her med-kit in her trunk). Then back in, where the haunted house broke down and kept them “prisoner” as mom says, for 45 minutes. Mom suggested leaving, but dad (wanting a kiss from the top) suggested trying the Ferris wheel, which OF COURSE broke down while they were at the top. They were stuck for > 2hrs and as it started again, so as to start to rescue people, it was so violently jerking around, mom threw-up all over dad! I once asked “why not puke over the edge” she said “oh no, not on the poor passers by, that would be horrible! Besides they didn’t drag me to the worst carnival in history! They were married 14 days later! That was 26yrs ago and they are STILL like newlyweds.
- +1 y
No it was a horrible date. The relationship ended shortly after. Almost 20 years later I still hate that date. In hindsight, the fact that she was so entertained by the play should've told me all I needed. Senses of humor have to match. There is no love without laughter.
- +1 y
Oh well, it was just one night of your life. Could have been worse, I’m guess.
313 opinions shared on Dating topic. Strip club.
Now hear me out, I don't think this was a dumb first date. However this would go down as not my style, but trying to make a square fit in a round hole. I was in the city working for the week, and the guys were already planning on going to this club on our last night before heading back home. I convinced this girl whom was working at the hotel we were staying at to come out. So there was familiarity, and the 'safety' of other people. We got time to spend at our own table to just talk, eventually told me I was brave but glad I was persistent.11 Reply- +1 y
Hey sometimes persistence pays off! (Of course sometimes it just results in a restraining order, but hey? I’m glad it worked out well for you!
+1 yA baseball game. Not that a baseball game would be a horrible date, but we had never met prior to this. Nine innings is a long time to spend with someone if you don’t end up liking each other/getting along.
But never somewhere outright inappropriate.32 Reply- +1 y
Oh yeah! I was thinking “what’s so bad about a baseball game?” But then I realized… NINE INNINGS!
- +1 y
Haha yes! I really like sports but it was our very first time meeting!!

+1 yUhm the dumbest was this stupid dude, he lived in the same street and saw me walking by and asked me out.
I told him just "we could walk around the block first", cause I didn't know him at all and never had a conversation with him.
And he then said to me (!) "or we can go up to my room, but it's messy and you would have to clean it first" ... I never talked to him ever again45 Reply- +1 y
Yeah, that would definitely illicit a two word answer from me *hint the second word is “OFF!”*
- +1 y
LMFAO! What a "character"! I have no words.
- +1 y
Yeaah right 😂 It took me a few seconds to realize that he really meant it...
- +1 y
What do you mean “whatHE meant”? I’m a girl, by which I mean a cisgender female… in other words, My vagina is standard factory equipment.
- +1 y
@CrazyGirl2 She was referring to the guy in the story.
Are you sober right now? Lol
+1 yThe library. I was 19 and he was 21.
I mean granted I love to read but omfg it was boring and it just made zero sense.
But omg I read someone had a date at a church? Ugh soo cringy and I’m sorry that’s even worse than a library 😣21 Reply- +1 y
Yeas a “date” to the library would suck… but not nearly as bad ad church! I just don’t understand why he would take you to a library… or why you agreed to go?
A helicopter ride, it was a little too much for me bc I hadn't been on one before lol but it was still fun
58 Reply- +1 y
I guess it would be fun if you’ve never been on one before, a bit loud though? Thanks for your input, I can see how that would seem like a bit… too much.
- +1 y
Yes, I know about the headset. I’ve been on a few helicopters. The thing to remember is everyone onboard can hear your conversation, nothing is private! (Unless you are onboard one of those newer luxury helicopters (with the retractable landing gear) They have a separate intercom system for passenger’s privacy!) 🚁😉
- +1 y
Well the easiest way to know… could you hear the pilot either talking to you, or talking on the radio to air traffic control? If you could, then he could hear you too! At least that’s how it’s been on every helicopter I’ve ever been in.
- +1 y
No, not dumb, you just didn’t know. I’m sure pilots hear all kinds of juicy stuff from the people sitting behind them.
+1 yFirst date with a guy, took me to a huge family reunion of his, where everyone thought I was his girlfriend and we were serious... that was also our last date.
To an ex's house to a party, cause they happened to be friends is another dumb place to take someone on a date.41 Reply- +1 y
Omg, same here, I slept with a guy ONCE (we didn’t even go on a date first) and yes the very first place he took me was to a family reunion… Seriously, that’s that LAST time I sleep with THAT cousin!) LOL 😂
Okay that was a joke guy’s, I was only kidding! But honestly, I just couldn’t resist that one!
In all seriousness, if somebody asked me out (especially a first date) and he took me to a family reunion… That would DEFINITELY be the last time I go anywhere with him. He clearly has no sense of appropriate boundaries, and you were definitely right to break things off before you ended up at MeeMaw‘s funeral! As for the party at the “Ex’s“ house? OMG that would be a friggin nightmare! Honestly… I would be seriously looking around to see if Freddy Krueger pops up! Good Lord Jade why are the crazy ones always so damn cute? (But I suppose, in fairness, guys could say the same thing about us!)
+1 yI wouldn't say inappropriate but weird I did date a girl and I met her parents on our first date and telling them how we are gonna get married and have 6 kids. I was like whoa I don't even know your last name and you are already planning your future with me before ordering our food.
22 Reply- +1 y
Woah 🤯. Yeah that’s weird! Although some cultures expect to me the man dating their daughter / sister, so if she was from certain Hispanic countries… that may be your answer! If, on the other hand, she isn’t Hispanic, and she just told them she’s dating a guy who wants six kids… yeah! Majorly weird!
- +1 y
Well she was Hispanic or anything but she was Asian.
+1 yGraveyard... I mean who the hell takes you there 😂 and the way hi convinced me... He said " Come na it will be fun , we all will enjoy... U sure won't get bored we will jeep you engage"😂

I took a girl to a "clothing optional" beach once, which in hindsight, wasn't the greatest idea. I definitely think she got the wrong idea about my intentions. To make matters worse, it wasn't the safest of beaches, and it turned out she wasn't the greatest swimmer either, so I ended up having to save her from drowning...
13 Reply- +1 y
Yes, that was definitely a major faux pas! That is exactly why I not only drive myself to any first, and some second dates, but also insist on paying for my own food as well! I would definitely have just driven home if anyone ever took me to a dude beach! Could you not just have said you had no idea about the beach, and taken her to a different beach? Why would you even stay?
- +1 y
Okay, then IF it was such an awesome beach, wtf did you use it as an example of the “DUMBEST” place anyone has ever taken you, or has wanted to go on a date? Your defense of the beach is wonderful, I’m convinced. Unfortunately it completely contracted your answer?
Well I haven't really been taken out on a date, I've always been the one to take someone else on a date lol
Would be nice to not have to organize a nice date for once lmao13 Reply- +1 y
Well the question DOES ask “or wanted to go”, so it would be inclusive for the men.
- +1 y
Okay, so just no answer then? ✔️
1.7K opinions shared on Dating topic. A strip club. Any woman suggesting that is for the streets.
33 Reply- +1 y
Yes… Strip clubs, definitely a thing you could imagine a woman suggesting. 🙄
- +1 y
Ahhh, well that must be why I don’t understand it, I always insist on paying for my own food and drinks, especially on the first few dates. After that if I still like the guy, I will at least try to pick up the tab. I have my own money, I don’t need anyone to pay for my meals. I’m there to get to know the guy… NOT his bank account! Most of my friends do the same, that’s where I got the idea, after a guy gave me the “what do you mean no? Have you any idea how much I spent on you today?” BS! After that I told my best friend what happened, and she told me that SHE always pays for her own food, and apparently so to did a lot of our friends, and then I started doing it. I’m actually shocked at how many guys think it’s some “feminist plot” to emasculate men! Now THAT is pathetically insecure 😕.
+1 yMcDonald’s. But at least he didn’t shoot heroin in front of me like happened to my friend once.
37 Reply- +1 y
hope they used less salt on their fries then mine did...

@Sabretooth the same friend who had a date shoot up in front of her also had a guy throw a fit cause he took her to McDonald’s and she wanted to Super Size her meal
- +1 y
... she needs help. figure out just what the hell kinda groups she hangs out with.
- +1 y
@Sabretooth she’s better now lol. This was years ago.
- +1 y
that's good.
- +1 y
Yeah I’ve been to McD’s ON dates, but that was with an existing boyfriend. I think it’s a bit much for a first date. As for the heroine… We’ll the good news is, at least she didn’t discover it AFTER the wedding!

@CrazyGirl2 I agree on both points lol

- +1 y
@TrueConfection yeah they are only good after you’ve been on several dates already
- +1 y
Yeah I agree, after a few dates, when you are more comfortable w/ each other, that is a good time for movies, but it’s definitely not the best place on a first date!
+1 yI've always felt that the initiative for date-locations is on me as a man, and I take it seriously. So I've never suggested any weird or nonsensical place.

It kind of makes you feel like they are thinking of you as some sort of trophy that they are showing off. Not something I care for much until I get to know them better.21 Reply- +1 y
Yes, that… or they are treating you more like girlfriend that a date! Never a good sign, unless I suppose they mention that it was a first date, then I can definitely see the whole “trophy” thing!
1.6K opinions shared on Dating topic. wedding... why would you take a date to a wedding even if you both know them. Sure go to the wedding but don't make it a date...
34 Reply- +1 y
I’ve been to two weddings as a date with my ex-boyfriend, I thought it was really nice for him to invite me. But… as a first, second, third etc… yeah a bit much! (and no that’s not why he’s my ex. It was just too much to wait 6 years to be together again.)
- +1 y
@CrazyGirl2 Aww. Did he join the military?
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs No, we both went to different colleges, me on the east coast, him on the west. I’m going for my PhD in psychology, he is going for an architectural engineering degree… since HIS degree is a six year program, that is the shortest amt of time that we would need to be apart, if we decided to do the long-distance thing. Which we decided against! (by which I mean I decided).

14 Reply- +1 y
Yeah, but what was weird or dumb about that beach? The question was regarding terrible locations for taking someone to (or going on) a date. Think about it, I’m sure you’ve had a dating experience where she wanted to go somewhere crazy?
- +1 y
Ohhh, you know that is totally my bad, I assumed you MUST have meant beach, b’cause who would Dave a date ona friggin bench? Just wow 🙄

- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs What the fuck are you going on about? Im talking about someone innocently putting their arm around me, or holding my hand… if YOU don’t want other people touching you, maybe don’t go on a date… or better yet, friggin’ tell them that!
- +1 y
Going to a movie today makes it easier to fool around. Who cares about talking when you’re watching a great movie and getting jerked off simultaneously?
- +1 y
@CrazyGirl2 Calm down! 😅😅 Omg
I have nothing against anyone touching You if You want to be touched. I'm talking about Me. :) - +1 y
@TheBigGuy9. That's gross, but ok.
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs jerked off, making out, groping each other whatever. I used to work at a movie theater growing up. We’d catch people in the back row on the ground having sex.
- +1 y
@TheBigGuy9 @Jamie05rhs is right, that really IS gross by the way.
- +1 y
Thanks, @CrazyGirl2.
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs when you start a sentence off with “Some of us don’t… “Believe in a not it really does sound aggressive. Sentences that begin like that sound as if they should end with “you dumb bitch!“ If it wasn’t meant aggressively, (and you do say it wasn’t) so I believe you… My bad, I take it back. We can’t hear tone when communicating with text, so we are all going to have a few misunderstandings every now and then.
- +1 y
@CrazyGirl2 lol at your sn. I’m sure there are some things you do that others find gross.
- +1 y
@CrazyGirl2 I accept your apology. 🧡☺️. And yeah, I meant absolutely nothing negative by that whatsoever. You were overthinking it. 😅. But it's all good!

Hey I just can’t wait for the ultra-woke all female reboot called “The GodMother” Maybe Ghostbusters 2016 director Paul Feig can direct it, and they can add a musical number where they can all dance and sing about being “Independent Wahmen that don’t need no man”?

13 Reply- +1 y
I don’t understand why Las Vegas was a dumb place for him to tack you? I think most women would love an all expense paid trip to Vegas… I wouldn’t mind one, and I have my own money.
- +1 y
It’s just a little much for a first date. Sharing a hotel room for a week on a first date, and probably screwing nonstop is further than most people would go on a first date. Most people other than me, because clearly I’m just a big ol ho.
- +1 y
Oh… Well yes if it was a FIRST date, then yes there’s not a chance in hell I would fly to Las Vegas with anyone on a first date! But I guess I was confused because I did not specify “first date“ in the question. But yes, I agree with you for a first date that would be horribly inappropriate.
4K opinions shared on Dating topic. A church. :/
65 Reply- +1 y
Definitely, that would be my line in the sand.
- +1 y
Yeah, I would hate that as well. I'm a Christian myself, but I don't like mixing religion and romance. It's a conflict of interest. That's why I don't date anyone at church. Because then they could get their heart broken and blame God instead of blaming me (where the blame actually lies).
- +1 y
@Jamie05rhs To be fair Jamie, it COULD have been her fault. I know I’ve screwed up a possible relationship by saying something stupid.

+1 yI would say the movies but we went to dinner after and it gave us something to talk about all night so it wasn't really that dumb in my opinion
01 Reply- +1 y
I agree. Whereas a movie isn’t really my favorite thing to do on a 1st date, precisely because you can’t really get to know each other, if it’s a good enough film, and it’s a long enough date so we can talk before and afterwards… why not, indeed? In fact as you said, if you don’t really have much to talk about, the film you just saw is at LEAST SOMETHING to talk about!
