Ok what is breadcrumbing?

Something that seems common now, is not full on ghosting but breadcrumbing. Can it be explained and why do guys do it?

Breadcrumbing is the same as leading someone on. Negative intermittent reinforcement. Yes men and women do it. I did it myself to my ex when I felt lonely I'd make sure to text him and check to see if he was willing to get together, but then I'd cancel and have all these excuses... he was my just in case I feel lonely fall back dude.. which was super mean as I didn't like him at all anymore though I knew he liked me still and would be there in a heart beat. It can happen at work, at school in any relationship even between parents and kids. Crazy world. You just have to ignore the bread crumber by not reponding in anyway and the game will end eventually. It's happen to me at work with a regular customer (I can't be sure but he may have been having trouble in his marriage, feeling unworthy and lonely) and so he would flirt with me and butter me up, then boom he would drop right off like he didn't even know me... leaving me confused... it went over and over I lost interest and he would pick up on it so he would rope me back in by being extra sweet and around and around it went, like a game that went nowhere. But it became painful because you miss how they made you feel special, so you're waiting for more bits of positivity from them like it used to be - it's very very hard to explain and deep. I hated it.
