Did you think your standards advanced or lowered if the person you fell in love with was not at first attractive to you or your type?

I don't know if i adjusted/compromised or lowered. I've dated a lot of guys but 3 of them were not my initial type in terms of looks. Well i mean they were from certain angles but not so much full frontal. Its like if a guy looks good from the front but turns to the side and has a longass witch nose. Or like how a girl can look skinny from side angle but have a wide body frontal. Odd to explain but yea. So i think i adjusted rather than lowered my standards. Because for me, looks makes up 55% while the personality makes up 45%. They at least still had the personality and well looks to an extent (or to an angle lmao)

I didn't consider it an upgrade or downgrade so much as an expansion. If placed in those terms, perhaps an upgrade since they helped me to better appreciate women's beauty in ways that deviated from popular canons in the media.

I would say each one of my exes contributed in a way to helping me understand what is and isn't so important to me in a relationship.

I would relate it to a learning experience of being told what to like vs. discovering what we actually like. If I had anything resembling standards before, they were formed absent experience, like a child saying he wants to be an astronaut without ever having worked at NASA.
