New to an area, where do you usually go to get out an mingle? (preferably no bars or clubs)?

What's something you're interested in? If you own or like dogs, I'd say go to a dog park. If you like reading, the library is a great part.

There's also an app called Nextdoor you can get which if you live in a big enough area, is a pretty good way to connect with folks and find events near you.

I live in a big area, but public transit is basically nonexistent and it's not even remotely "walkable", sadly.
I like music, I like gaming, and literature on occasion. I do have a dog, so maybe that's a starting point.

Darn, that sucks about transit. Well, maybe see if any cafes or places near you are doing live music events? Even if it's not really your type of music that's a great way to meet new people. Cafe gatherings are typically small enough that it's not like meeting someone when you're one person in a crowd!

I have to walk an hour or 2 just to get anywhere near where civilization is lol
Yeah, moving eventually is gonna have to be it I guess, that or I can work at the neighborhood walmart and make coworkers lol Thank you for your time and input.

OH! You meant a 2hr walk to get anywhere. Sorry, I for some reason just assumed you were talking about the downtown area.

Yeah, no worries, it's a situation unique to areas like towns in Texas.

You need to consider what your personal interests are and seek out groups in your area.

The problem is that everything is spread out across multiple towns and municipalities, it's not really feasible to walk anywhere. Maybe I just need to move closer to the city once my lease is up.
