I'm married to one. She has a mild case of bunions and it tends to hurt her a lot to wear heels even though she's required for her work (makes me cranky that they require that dress code but I massage her feet a lot at the end of the day). I never minded. I'm not a foot person.

Bunions are very common, and I see (mostly 50+ years old women) them daily during the summer. It's a testament to why you shouldn't be cramming your feet into tiny shoes. There's other causes and even some genetic factors too but as far as "medical issues" can go it's pretty minor.
