I'm from northern Los Angeles County, and I do notice that people are more likely to be at extremes today, as compared to the past. In the past, people didn't feel so threatened by differences in others. They seemed more likely to respect differences in the past. They were more likely to show curiosity and seek an understanding of differences. Today, people seem to feel entitled to push their agenda onto others and criticize those who don't agree with them. That only puts people on the defensive, pushing people further out to extremes.

There has been more positive growth in our country when centrists were in power. All extremes need to be balanced by the opposite extreme, so nothing gets accomplished. This adversarial approach will never be in anyone's best interest, as every action just seems to invite others to nullify it.
