I was a plus size model when I was 17, I did runways shows and pageants with mixed age and size divisions and I have to tell you, it was the pageant directors, judges and the designers and to he backstage crew that treated us ALL like shit. Most of these people were skinny gay guys not skinny women and it was especially humiliating when a garment wouldn't fit properly for a show, then the name-calling and body shaming began. It's true that the skinny models got treated better but these girls had to fight off sleazy photographers trying to get them to get naked and they suffered health problems and drug/diet pill addiction. I had no problems with the skinny models because I knew that we were all in same boat experiencing the ugliest sides of the fashion world. It was uncomfortable, humiliating and physically and emotionally exhausting.
