Why do women like to tell thin women to gain weight all the time? Jealousy?

Umm, no it’s not always rooted in jealousy, that’s a misconception. Yes there are some who say it because they are jealous but keep in mind there are a lot more skinny women who shame bigger women.
I am skinny athletic build and I have been told I am big by skinnier women. I’m literally a size 2 jeans, wear an XS in shirts and a small in pants. Jealousy? Some of them might be, but not always the case. Like, if I said something derogatory towards a bone skinny women (which I wouldn’t) it wouldn’t be rooted in jealousy because I have no desire to look like that.

I’m not that type of woman but I also don’t think it’s jealousy. It’s interesting that you’re offended by skinny women being told to gain weight but you don’t mention if you are also offended by overweight women told to lose weight. Outside appearance is not a fail safe indicator of fitness and health. Just as many overweight people could be unhealthy a lot of skinny people could also be unhealthy. It’s actually really common. Each side of the spectrum just have different reasons for their unhealthiness.

So to answer your question with that background knowledge, I think a lot of it is a response to the unfair judgement one spectrum gets for their body shape while the other side of the spectrum…which is also very much as unhealthy…gets praised.

With the ever-increasing amount of overweight and obese people in the United States, the general public probably lost the knowledge how a healthy body looks quite some time ago.

Simple... they wish they didn't weigh as much as they do. I guess that's a form of jealousy.

When I was smaller, I heard this all the time. I always thought it was extremely rude and intrusive. I don’t understand why so many people seem to think it’s okay to body-shame women who weigh less.

I weigh 115 and nobody tells me to gain weight. I don't know many rude people 🤷‍♀️
