it's like testing the waters. I don't think it's bad. But intentions should be pretty clear. because misunderstandings can occur. Like one person is just joking and the other person is taking it for a sign. So yeah, I agree with you saying "don't play with me". But if it was used in a proper way, that'll be alright.
