Is it worth it creating an instagram account to find a guy?

I don't meet people often, I most go out with my friends or family and I don't like parties. I noticed a lot of people meet because of social media like instagram, so I've been thinking of trying. But, as you might know, it has a lot of downsides thus why I haven't made an account yet. Should I try? Can I even find a cool dude in it or is it full of jerks?

Also, forgot to mention but my love life has been really messing up with me (I'm a bit too attached to my childhood crush and it's been making me physically sick) so I thought meeting new people would do some good to me...

I'm a cool guy and I don't use instagram because I doubted it will work for anything, i have the same question as you do.
