Why do some guys say that girls don’t care about looks when a lot of us do?

I’ve literally heard from some guys that saying “women don’t care about physical attraction/looks nearly as much as men.” But I’ve found that not to be true as a woman. I care about both looks and personality equally, and so do most of my friends. In fact, I care about physical attraction the same amount as most of my guy friends or the guys I know. I have to find the guy attractive looks-wise to even want to get to know his personality in a romantic way. If I’m not physically attracted to a guy, it’s just not happening in the first place.

Why do some people (and some male dating coaches) say that women don’t care about looks at all, and only care about “confidence” when that’s not true?

cause lots of girls claim they don't care about looks and guys are gullible like that. i know it's bullshit. everyone cares for looks. like i have gotten into arguments with girls about this a lot, cause they like emotional bullshit more than uncomfortable facts and they love seeing themself as the all-loving saints that they aren't. nobody is.

It is usually WOMEN who claim that. Anyone who has been outside is aware that women go for looks. That's why they used to put Fabio on the cover of romance novels, not Ernest Borgnine.

It might be because society generally pressures women to be pretty more than men. So that’s where the belief comes from. It’s false, I agree with you. What attracted me to my boyfriend at first was his appearance

Probably because of what some guys look like with a beautiful woman and can’t figure out why she is with someone beneath her, must be something else
