Is it true that girls don't care much about appearance as much as guys think they do?

Lately I saw a very beautiful girl, and she was with a guy who wasn't that good looking. He had somewhat long curly hair, a grown beard, and he wasn't actually the type of guy you would expect such an attractive girl to be with.

This is not the first time I've seen a beautiful girl clinging on to the hands of a very ordinary looking guy. I once saw a pretty YouTuber girl making vlogs with her boyfriend who honestly didn't have good looks at all.

Then I read in a post that girls don't really care much about the looks, but more about hygiene and personality. The post mentioned that although guys think that abs, muscles, and "alpha looks" are what attract girls, in reality it's different. Is this true?

God didn’t make everyone the same. I’m literally tired of seeing this question ask like I have been on here for a while now and this is not the first time that this question has been asked. Not everyone’s taste are the same and everyone does have a preference but just because you don’t find another guy attractive doesn’t mean that the girl doesn’t find him attractive. And who are you to say that he’s not good looking you are not God you are not the maker. See do you see why this is so wrong of you like this is just so wrong I just don’t know understand why people keep asking these ridiculous questions and you don’t even understand how you’re being. Please understand that everyone sees others different and remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Also there’s so many girls who look further than outside of parents that’s why we always be rejecting guys anyways. Because usually their personalities suck and their appearance yeah they’re hot but you don’t really have much to offer. You’re just may be looking in the wrong places and yeah I don’t just because you don’t find someone else attractive doesn’t mean they’re not attractive. And also just because you’re insecure about yourself you don’t have to tear other people down because you can’t have someone that they have. also looks are only half of what girls are looking for there’s so many other qualities that girls want in a guy then them to look like there are 10.

The way I see it is that our eyes are just ways to gather information about the world just like our ears, nose, etc. I don't think it's right when a girl who isn't blind says she doesn't care about how someone looks. Of course, she cares. If she cares about confidence, it's very hard to tell a confident man apart from one who isn't if we're blind, or if we're blind, if we also can't hear.

Everyone who isn't blind should care about looks. Otherwise, they're dumb.

Might as well say we don't care about what someone says, or what someone does. Let's date serial killers while we're at it. If someone cares about personality, they care about the way a person looks, how they sound, smell, how they feel to the touch, what they say, etc. They care about all of it, because anyone who really cares about personality uses every bit of information their eyes or ears or nose or fingers or wherever gives them.

Someone could claim they don't care about how a person smells. But I think that's just silly. If someone smells like a garbage can, they're probably a homeless person who rummaged through the trash for food. Now if someone's idea of a great personality is a homeless person, fine. But in that case, they probably like the smell of garbage. It's not that they don't care about how they smell.

Like someone saying they don't care about how food tastes like. They're probably just not very picky about it, or just like foods that aren't popular. It's not that they care. I'll make them a grapefruit soup loaded with habanero and salt and I'm sure they'll care how it tastes.

True. Girls are not that into looks. Looks are a important factor, but if a hot guy is a douche, we'd probably break it off. Looks can lead to initial attraction, but it can't sustain it.
