Guys, How do feel about being asked out first?

I asked a guy out on a date and offered to pick him up. I assumed since I asked it was only appropriate that I also pick him up/drop him off. Although he agreed to it, I am now wondering if I came off too assertive. What do you guys think?

Uh, asking out first is okay though it never happens. The only time I’ve had women approach me was when they wanted sex now that I think about it, which is kind of depressing, in a way.

Anyways, offering to pick him up and drop him off is too much. I’ve picked up women in the past and dropped them off, but as a guy it would feel very, very weird to have it done for me. Yes, I know these are traditional gender roles. Deal with it. I don’t know what to tell you lol. Part of what a man does on a date is keep his date safe, make sure that she gets home okay, you walk her to her car, you walk by the road and give her the sidewalk. It’s just what you do for a woman on a date, you protect her. You picking him up and handling transportation kind of tosses that out the window. “Guess I won’t be walking her to her car.”

I’m not saying any of this to criticize or demean, it’s just the way I see it. I’d feel very weird being picked up and dropped off. I wouldn’t even know if you wanted me to kiss you or not.

I know your intentions are sincere lol. I didn’t have any bad experiences with having a girl ask to pick me up first on a date because it has never happened. I’m just saying it would feel weird to be the one picked up by my date as the man. Regardless I hope your date goes great and that you both have a great time together. 👍 😊

It feels amazing because it's so rare and we have way less stress. If women want equality then they're gonna have to put themselves In vulnerable situations, buy dinner, and hold doors for use. All while not feeling inferior... never gonna happen.

It went well and he paid for the meal and I paid for the entertainment. I never did care for traditional norms, I always wonder why people like going by the book. I find it a little odd because don't both sex like to woo'd. :-) Anyway, thank you all.

Sure it is very destabilising for a man being asked first because it is against expectations.
But I think sincerely that if you felt ok going for it, you did the right thing, and evidently he appreciated it since he agreed.

Servant leadership. Read Ephesians 5 as it gives Relational orders and design for BOTH man and woman. Please keep in your mind, that in my belief system, man is ultimately responsible for woman.

I think being asked out is cool, good on you for doing so if you like him!
Maybe the picking up and dropping off might be too much for some guys, but I don't think that would ruin your chances with him.

You're overthinking it. He said yes and he wouldn't have said yes if he didn't want to go out with you.
But just be on the safe side just because you asked him out doesn't mean you don't deserve the same level of respect due, had he asked you out. Remember that.
